Fate was cruel, Zanya could tell you that. 5 minutes ago, he begged for no surprise quizzes. 5 minutes later, a pop quiz was shoved at his face. He groaned and forced a smile on his face when the teacher turned to stared.

When the teacher turned around, he quickly dropped the act and groaned. How he wanted to skip the class like Hiroki did.

What was he thinking?! He had a reputation to uphold in the school! He shouldn't be thinking things like this!

Zanya smacked himself on the forehead, earning himself a blank stare from Kurai. Well, he assumed that he was staring at him through the direction he was facing.

Zanya averted his eyes, face burning from embarrassment. The stare Kurai gave him was practically drilling holes at the back of his head. He tried to focus on the test paper that was given to him.

What ended in 1896?

Kurai. Wait... What? He realised he wrote Kurai's name on the paper due to being distracted. His cheeks flamed and he quickly took the eraser to forever cleanse his careless mistake off the paper.

She was watching him carefully. Did he find out? She watched as he smacked himself on the forehead. Probably not but she better make sure.

She peeked at him and saw her fake name written on the paper. She saw his cheeks turning red as he hastily grabbed an eraser to rub his mistake off the paper.

He probably knew. She'll have to eliminate him quickly.

Zanya had no idea what the answer was. He quickly skipped the question and focused on the paper. Stop staring at me! Zanya yelled in his mind.

Kurai finally took the hint and turned away. He sighed in relief, breathing suddenly felt a lot easier. Zanya turned back to his paper, now able to work in peace.

She worked on her paper in silence, occasionally glancing at her target's behaviour. He seems normal enough but just to be safe... She grabbed the syringe in her bag and filled it with the vial of tranquilising liquid. She stole it from the cupboard in the nurse's office.

This should keep him nice and quiet until I finish my work... But again... It'll be suspicious if a studious person like Zanya suddenly fell asleep in the middle of a test...

She considered her options. Very well, looks like I'll be giving him a few more hours to live. She tucked away the needle, careful not to break it and quietly started on the test.

"Kurai Kurosawa, please stand up" the history teacher called. He did as she instructed. Zanya watched Kurai, his face was still stoic with no hint of fear even when facing the teacher.

"I need to speak to you after class, Kurai." The teacher requested. Kurai nodded, before settling himself back in his seat. Zanya bit the inside of his lip, what did Kurai do wrong?

"Kurai, I am aware that you have been hanging by Zanya's side this two days, no? Well, which is why I called you here." Kurai dug her nails into her palm in impatience.

She had a perfect opportunity to kill her target yet she was held back by the teacher regarding such a minor issue. If she didn't like her by Zanya's side, it was fine. She never intended to know him in the first place.

For now, the tranquiliser would be put into better use. She removed it from her bag in full view of the teacher. "Kurai? What are you-" the teacher never finished her sentence when she jabbed the syringe in the flesh of her neck.

She pushed the syringe, letting the clear liquid slip into the teacher's system. The teacher struggled against her grip but it was futile. The harm was already done.

The teacher's eyes rolled back, she fell down with a muffled thump. She quickly hid the teacher's unconscious body under the table and tied up her limbs in case she woke up too soon. She added a gag to her "handiwork" before an idea occurred to her.

She pulled out the switchblade she taped to her arm under the hoodie sleeve. She held the blade close to the teacher's arm and cut a pentagon shape on it.

Let them think that it was some sort of homicidal killer, with evidence on her, they'll suspect her. Which actually made a few things easier.

She'll gain sympathy, a formidable weapon against heartless police. Still, she must cover enough evidence for them not to arrest her on the spot.

She just couldn't be bothered with the body anymore so she sauntered out of the classroom to find her target.

She had wasted enough time on the vermin, let her focus on the prey. She held the blade in full view, for the witness to do their duty while she finished her work.
