Nino awoke to the sound of Adrien brushing his teeth in the bathroom. He looked at the clock, 8:30 am, it read. The dark skinned boy groaned and rolled off his bed onto the floor with the duvet still cocooning him. He reached above his head to the drawer next to his mattress and shoved his glasses roughly on his face. 

"Dude, why are you up this early? It's Saturday!" Nino groggily knocked on the door to the bathroom and pushed it open slightly. Adrien had the toothbrush in his foamy mouth and a towel around his waist. At the sight of him, Nino shut the door and covered his eyes with his hand. "Did not want to see that! Put some clothes on!" 

After five minutes, Adrien emerged from the bathroom fully dressed. He slumped on the small couch and ran his fingers through his damp hair. His worried expression must have shown because Nino asked him what was wrong.

"Nothing," Adrien replied, waving off his friend's concern, "I'm just nervous that's all."

"Don't be. You'll do great!" Nino punched him playfully on the shoulder, "Plus, the show isn't until later so we have the rest of the day to hang out!" The two boys grabbed their wallets and phones, then left the tiny apartment.

On their way out of campus, they bumped into some members of the band. They, of course, said hello to Nino and gave a friendly wave and a small good luck to Adrien. Alya came over to them and she and Nino talked about dinner or something (Adrien wasn't paying much attention) but as she left, she whispered into his ear and Nino smirked, winking at her when she left. 

Adrien and Nino walked past cinemas, theaters, restaurants and shops; laughing at each other's bad puns and jokes. After lunch, they stopped to look in a bookstore, Nino perused the shelves for a moment and then told Adrien that he was going to get coffee from upstairs. When he came back, however, he couldn't find the blonde anywhere. 

After a good ten minutes of searching, he finally spotted his friend buried deep in the manga section. Adrien was reading something called 'Attack on Titan', whatever that was. Nino tapped him on the shoulder, Adrien flinched but didn't take his eyes off of the book. Nino tapped him again, this time getting a slight wave of dismissal from Adrien's free hand. The blonde tugged his hair out of his eyes and Nino saw that they were swelling up with tears. His hand flew to his mouth to cover up sobs as Nino looked at him astonished.

"Dude, you okay?" he asked, putting a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Marco," Adrien ignored Nino and kept on turning the pages, "No, Marco." Now he was getting worried. Who was Marco and why is Adrien crying in the middle of a bookshop? "Nino, Marco's dead." he sobbed, shutting the book and hugging his friend. Nino awkwardly patted his back and tried to talk some sense into him.

"He isn't real, remember. This, Marco, is fictional." Adrien looked up at Nino's words as if being slapped in the face. He removed himself from his friend and straightened his clothes.

"Yeah, yeah. I knew that" he rubbed the back of his neck, a new tear had fallen down his cheek. Adrien put the book back on the shelf then wiped away the tear tracks on his face. "Let's go. It's nearly four." he grabbed Nino's wrist and left the store.
