400 Years ago (21 years after the arrival of Jo)
"You said it's odd for them to arrive like this?" I asked, a bit confused. Mal and I were walking around to the front of the island. A scouting group said they spotted a new dragon landed over there.
"That's correct." He said as we walked. He was like a big brother to me. He taught me everything I knew. Since I first came here (21 years ago), I've cut my hair down to my shoulders, gotten some pretty sweet battle scars and have a rocking outfit that honestly makes me look pretty bad@$$. I have also "earned" my place in the clan and am finally able to start doing cool things.
"But...I came the same way, didn't I?" I explained my confusion.
"You were also a strange case. You see, we have this ceremony in the winter where all the new dragons come and form eggs and that's the easy way. It's easier and more smooth for the new ones. But when you come in the middle of the year like you did or like this one did, its more traumatic and that's why your mentally insane!" He said, ending on a joke. I gasped, pretending to be offended and pushed him. He laughed with me and nudged me back.
About 15 minutes of laughing and talking later, and we finally round the corner to see not one but two unconscious forms huddled on the floor. Mal whistled, "Well that tells us what kind of dragon we have on our hands."
I hmmed, asking a silent question.
"A zippleback," He muttered, walking up to the girl. She had forest green hair and looked very similar to the boy who was next to her. I kneeled by the boy and placed the blanket I carried over his frame. He was stick thin with a slim face and basically slim everything. It wasn't like an "I starve myself" slim but more like a "I sprint in circles for fun" slim. Freckles dotted his face and soft green hair made him look almost identical to the girl next to him. My head snapped back to reality when I realized he was groaning.
"Ugh...I feel like I got hit by a bull," He muttered, blinking awake. He had big amber eyes that seemed almost gold. They grew wide when he noticed me kneeling by his side. "Uhhh...not that I'm complaining but why is a hot girl sitting so close to me willingly?"
I raised my eyebrow, debating whether or not this "hot girl" should slap him, sock him or laugh. Before I could decide, a more feminine voice called out, "She's probably a mental patient." OK. Her I wanted to smack. I turned to look at the girl who was now also awake. Besides obvious physical features that defined their genders, the two looked almost identical.
"What are we supposed to call you?" Mal asked.
"Depends. What are we supposed to call you?" The two asked at the same time. That was creepy.
"Malachi. And this here is Josephine. We call her Jo though," He said, introducing us both to the people who were obviously twins. "By the way, if you want to change your names, now's your chance." He added. No one told me that. But then again, I was guided by a boring soldier guy whos name turned out to be Micah. He was kind of a 'I do what im told because Im a good boy'
The two looked at each other before back at Micah. The girl spoke first, "He's Cleo."
"And she's Cloe," Cleo said after her....ok, that's like a letter off. If I had a cent for every time I knew I was going to get their names mixed up, I could buy my own island.
"Well...Cloe and Cleo, Welcome to Isle Draco!" Mal said.
"....Isnt that just latin for 'Dragon Island'?" Cloe asked unimpressed.
"Oh come on. Don't suck all the fun out of it." Micah said, pretending to be offended. Cloe giggled at his face and Cleo looked like he was trying not to. I smiled along with them. Oh it was fun to greet the newbies.
