Last chapter guys! Thank you all SO MUCH for all the support throughout. I think I’ve really come a long way in terms of my writing (just finished editing... the first draft was so ridiculously bad, I question my sanity) and I really hope you guys enjoyed it. This chapter will be really long and it might be in a completely different style from the others.

There is a sequel, calledNever Forget, that will most likely not follow the original plot completely. It'll probably be close, though.

As always, hope you all enjoy this final conclusion of the Lightning Goddess.

Chapter 27: The Lightning Goddess

“I shall agree with the Konoha-Suna alliance.”

Kira Izanami stood in front of Kankuro, Temari, Gaara, and Suna’s council. Her heart rate calmed down as she heard those familiar words, and she let out a small sigh of relief. It didn’t go unnoticed by Gaara, but he chose not to say anything. As there was no current Kazekage, the three Sand Siblings were basically the consultants, while the Elders and council worked together to vote on certain decisions.

It was, however, Temari who signed the treaty alliance, her being the oldest of the three. She pushed the paper back to Kira, who took it, looking it over.

“Is there anything else we need to do?” Temari asked, and Kira seemed to ponder it over.

“The first thing you should do is elect a new Kazekage,” she said, seemingly unaware of how several council members tensed up. “It may not be Konohagakure’s business, but now that we are allies, I am simply trying to help you out as a fellow shinobi.”

“I agree,” Gaara spoke up, and everyone else, Kira included, turned to him in surprise. He stood up straighter and added, “We cannot go on like this forever. There needs to be a leader, especially if a war is about to break out.” He then directed his attention at Kira. “I would assume that we need to prepare for a possible war in the future, as well.”

“That is correct,” she replied. “You should start stocking up on weapons, as well as training and preparing other shinobi for war. You should educate Genin on war duties. Another good idea is to train as many medics as possible.”

“You have Lady Tsunade as your Hokage, correct?” Gaara asked, and Kira nodded, wondering where this was leading to. “Then Konohagakure should have no problem training medics. We, on the other hand, would have to rely on the elders of our village.”

“I’m sure that Lady Tsunade would be willing to provide some support,” Kira offered. “Perhaps we can arrange a sort of ‘exchange student’ opportunity between villages. Sunagakure would be an ideal training place as well, because of your rough environment.”

The council members were nodding among themselves, and Gaara noticed his siblings exchange glances. His eyes narrowed, and he focused on the golden-haired Jonin at the head of the table.

She was different, all right. She had the clear feel of a Jinchuriki, and yet the chakra inside of her wasn’t a Jinchuriki’s chakra at all.

‘Fool,’ Shukaku snarled, and Gaara’s eyes widened. He rarely said anything of any help at all. ‘You should force her to lay her cards on the table. An alliance should not have such secrets.’
