Chapter 5

"This place has the best ramen ever!" Naruto said pulling me into the small shop(?). I sat down on a stool and Naruto sat down next to me almost reluctantly.

"What's wrong?" I asked as he sat down slowly.

"Uhh, nothing.. I thought I heard something, but I was wrong.." Naruto said looking at the counter and then smiling big at me.

"If you need to talk to anyone, you can talk to me, ya know? I may be new around here, but that doesn't me you can't talk to me or I won't understand what's going on." I said smiling a bit.

"Thanks, Rin, but I'm fine!" Naruto said smiling.

He's hiding behind that smile.. it's like a mask. Trust me, after watching ..(how many seasons..?) of Naruto, I know how he works. I want him to trust me, like maybe how he trusts Iruka-Sensei? Or more.

We finished our ramen, and Naruto showed me around. The first stop was the academy. We walked kind of silent, and I was playing with the hem of my jacket. We stopped in front of the swing hanging from the tree and Naruto stared at it.

"Wanna swing?" I joked.

Naruto stayed silent and I walked over to the swing and sat down. I decided to swing on it since it is a swing.

"Why are you staring at me so bug eyed?" I asked knocking Naruto out of a trance.

"Huh?"

"I knew it!" I laughed. I dragged my feet against the ground kicking dust up.
I sat there and I felt like crying. I suddenly felt sadness and loneliness.

"Rin! Rin, what's wrong?" Naruto rushed in front of me.

"Huh?" I then realized I was crying.. I felt like it and I wanted to cry more for some reason.

I cleared my throat.

"Naruto, is it okay to cry?" I asked not wiping away my tears.

He nodded slowly and I allowed more tears to come.

"I-I love being here, but I miss my home! I miss my friends; my family. Even though it sometimes feels like I'm being ignored, I know they all love me. I-I regret thinking such bad thoughts." I cried.

The few academy students playing soon noticed us by my crying.

"What should I do?" I asked reluctantly.

"I.. don't know.. I've kind of been in the same situation, but all I did was make sure people noticed me. I kept a smile on my face." Naruto said, kneeling in front of me. I quickly reached out and hugged him tightly.

"I'm sorry.." I said after letting him go. He was in a bit of shock at first, but then he smiled softly.

"I bet you think I'm a crybaby, huh?" I laughed wiping the tears from my eyes.

"No! Why would I think that? Just because you cry doesn't mean you're a crybaby! You're just expressing your feelings in a happy or sad way." Naruto said patting my back.

"That's probably the smartest thing I've heard you say!" I said.

"Huh?"

"N-Nothing! Just ignore what I said.." I said looking down more because I was embarrassed. "Shall we continue our tour?"

"Sure!" Naruto said smiling and he held his hand out to me.

"Rin! Naruto!"

Naruto and I turned and we saw Sakura running towards us.
