The year was 1791, and Philip Hamilton was 10 years of age. He was the son of the secretary of treasury and gifted lawyer Alexander Hamilton, and grandson of Senator and general Philip Schuyler. Two well respected men, and there was little Philip Hamilton living in their shadows. Philip and his father walked to Aaron Burr's house, which was normal for Saturdays. Alexander was gripping a newspaper, and his eyes spoke of anger and betrayal. Philip saw Theodosia Burr through the window. Theodosia was 8 years old. She was dancing the sitting room with her mother. Philip felt a smile lurk on his face. As they reached the doorstep, Alexander pounded on the door. Aaron Burr opened the door smiling. He stood tall, as Theodosia ran behind him.

"Alexander! Philip! The Theodosias have been waiting," picks up Theodosia Jr with a calm and caring tone, "Theodosia Jr has been nonstop talking about Philip."

Alexander threw the newspaper at his feet and snarled, "Burr, since when are you a Democratic Republican?"

"Since being one put me on the up and up again," Burr simply stated.

"None knows who you are or what you do!" Alexander shoved.

"They do not need to know me, they do not like you," Burr stays calm.

             "Excuse me?"

"All of Wall Street thinks you're great. You'll always be adored by the things you create, but upstate you're the rascal who trades away the capital."

              "Wait-"

"The asshole who taxes the alcohol!"

"I always considered you a friend!"

"I don't see why that has to end.A senate seat was up for grabs and I took it," he stated then pointed out,"It's not my fault people think you're crooked."

"You're gonna make a fool of me through my father in law?"

"There's the kid who almost shot Charles Lee in the jaw. My god, your pride will be the death of us all. Beware, it goeth before the fall!"

Alexander looked furious, and Burr set his daughter down. Philip was extremely confused. He thought They never fight like this. Why now? Philip sighed staring at the little girl. She looked back at him, and Philip's cheeks were rosy red. Aaron sent the kids to the backyard, Philip guided Theodosia to the backyard. He could still hear the two men arguing.  He just sat and watched her. He had no energy to play. Philip knew this would be the last time they would probably see each other, and just wanted to watch her happy. It made him happy.  After a half an hour Alexander came, he took Philip's arm. Philip clearly heard Alexander cursing out Burr under his breath. Taking one last look at the little girl, he was dragged away.

"You are never to speak to her again. The Burr family has made a fool of me. You want your dad to lose his honor!" Alexander spat, while crushing his  son's arm.

         "No father," Philip quickly replied.

"Never talk, look or think about the Burr family,"

"Yes father," Philip nodded in agreement.

He did.
