Part 8

Arnav badly wanted to talk with Khushi alone, so he voiced his thoughts.

Arnav (hesitating): Umm.. I think you all should go home now. I mean.. Khushi.. (looking at Khushi, who is giving him a sweet smile) Khushi needs to rest, you know.

Akash (interrupting): Yes, Bhai, we know. Right, Di? (He elbowed Anjali) We know.

Arnav: Yeah, so.. move.

Anjali (suppressing her smile): Yes, Chote, you should come with us too. Buaji and NK Bhai will stay here.

A horrified NK, at the thought of staying with Buaji, screamed, "No!" Akash pinched him and winked, indicating that they were playing with Arnav, but NK, being NK, didn't want to take any chances of staying with Buaji, even as a joke.

Arnav: Okay, okay, enough now. Di, you need rest, and Akash, I guess you need to spend some time with Payal. (Akash was embarrassed, and Payal was blushing.)

Anjali: Does Akash need to spend time with Payal, or does my Chote want to spend some time with Khushiji? Hmm? (Khushi turned red while blushing. Everyone laughed at their expense. Anjali saw a slight blush on her Chote's cheeks too. His happiness was reflecting on his face. She went and hugged him.)

Arnav (emotionally): Di

Anjali (still hugging): I'm fine, Chhote. It's just that. I'm very happy for you.

Arnav broke the hug and kissed his Di's forehead. They both side-hugged each other again. Everyone became a bit emotional.

Garima (facing Nani): I was thinking. When Khushi fully recovers, why don't we arrange a proper marriage for Khushi and Arnav Bitwa?

Nani (happily): You voiced my thoughts. This will be perfect.

Mami: Ghar Mey ek aur Shaadi.. Makeup karika padi.. Hello Hi bye bye (Another wedding at home. I'll have to do makeup. Hello, hi, bye-bye!)

Buaji: This time, we will win the Sangeet ceremony again, Nandkishore!

Arnav: I guess we can plan all this at home. Right now, Khushi needs rest.

NK: very bad Nannav.. Tum hame dhaga rahe ho.. Very bad (Very bad, Nannav. You're kicking us out. Very bad.)

Akash: dhaga nahi Nk bhai, bhaga.. bhaga. (Not kicking, NK Bhai. sending.. sending us out.)

Meanwhile, a nurse came inside and said everyone except one should leave, as the patient needed rest. Everyone teasingly smiled at Arnav and moved out.

Arnav amusingly watched Khushi, who was blushing furiously. But then he remembered that he needed to tell her that he had married her in haste because he had seen her on the terrace with Shyam. He gulped, thinking about what her reaction would be.

Arnav (hesitating): khushi.. Wo., Mai.. (Khushi.. I..)

Khushi (smiling, remembering their confessions): boliye.. (Go on..)

Arnav (in one breath): Khushi, I’m sorry.

Khushi (confused): Sorry? Why?

Arnav then told her everything—the terrace scene, what he saw, and what Shyam told him when he confronted him.

Khushi: You believed him?

Arnav (guilty): I’m sorry, Khushi.

Khushi: He is a liar, Arnavji, and what you saw on the terrace was not the full scene. (She then told him everything.)

Arnav: I’m really sorry, Khushi.

Khushi: Aur kitni baar aap Sorry bolenge.. Mr.Arnav Singh Raizada, aap sorry bolte huwe acche nahi lagte (How many times will you say sorry? Saying sorry doesn’t suit you, Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada.)

Arnav: Does that mean you forgive me?

Khushi: I can’t forgive you because the entire mistake wasn’t yours. It’s all Shyam’s fault, and I should have told you everything. So it’s partly my mistake too. I’m sorry for that. But did you marry me only for this reason? (She knew her Arnavji loved her, but she wanted to hear it from him.)

Arnav (instantly): No, Khushi. (He held her hand close to his heart.) Yes, I made that decision in anger, but I married you because I love you. If it had been anyone else in your place, I wouldn’t have taken the same decision. Trust me, Khushi, I married you because I wanted you to be with me, to keep you close to me. (Pause) In fact, I came to the terrace to propose to you.

Khushi (smiling): I trust you.

Arnav: Will you be mine... forever?

Khushi: Hamesha... (Forever and ever...)

Arnav: I love you. (He then smiled, hearing a faint "Hum bhi" from her side and seeing her blushing again, lowering her eyelids. He happily hugged her to his heart's content.)

They broke the hug when they heard some screaming sounds. Arnav told Khushi to rest while he went out to check what had happened. When he came out, he was shocked to see Shyam coming toward their ward with a knife, with the police following him. Before he could make any further movement, the police clutched him from behind. Shyam screamed at Arnav, "I won’t leave you and Khushi. How dare you marry her when I told you that I love her! But I’m angrier at her—how could she marry you? That’s why when I saw her going out, I sent that truck to kill her. But she escaped death. I found out about the doctor and threatened him to kill Khushi, or else I would kill his own daughter, but still Khushi is alive. I won’t let you both live in peace. I’ll kill you both!" Shyam escaped from their clutches and ran to stab Arnav. But one of the police officers shot Shyam dead. Shyam lay on the floor with a lot of blood around him, his head on Arnav’s foot. Arnav turned away to control his anger. Shyam was already dead, and he couldn’t even beat up the man who ruined his Di’s life and tried to kill his Khushi. Some ward boys came and took Shyam’s body on a stretcher.

Police (to Arnav): He escaped from jail to kill you and your wife.

Arnav: Thanks for the help, officer.

Police: It’s our duty. (He left after closing Shyam’s case.)

Arnav called Akash, who told him that he had dropped the Guptas at their home and that they had also reached Shantivan. Then, Arnav told him about Shyam’s death, to which Akash felt relieved and ended the call. Akash told everyone at home about Shyam, and everyone felt at peace. The person who played dirty games with their lives was now no more.

Arnav went inside and saw Khushi was very worried. She asked about the noise. He told her about Shyam’s death. When he saw her confused expression, he said, "Everyone pays for their sins." She nodded, and they both smiled at each other as he kissed her forehead.

This was the one day that changed their lives for good.
