The cave was still dark, hardly lit by the sun's strong rays from the outside. I woke up to Morgan frantically searching in her backpack.
"Damn it...where'd I stuff that stupid roll of gauze?!" Morgan asked herself.
I looked down at my hand, where there seemed to be a large scratch across my palm. Morgan, so it seemed, already tried to wrap my hand in the blanket to stop the bleeding, and it worked fairly well. In an instant, everything came flooding back to me. Riddler. My hand was cut while climbing on the walls only to fail at finishing off that bastard. Morgan looked up from her search and stared at me.
"Oh, you're awake! Good. But, just don't scream." She warned.
"What? Why would I-OH GOOD GOD THAT HURTS!"
Morgan disinfected my hand with an alcohol-like substance that stung every time it made contact with my skin. Morgan kept on apologizing every time she rubbed the alcohol on my hand. At last, she finally wrapped my hand in gauze and she stood up.
"C'mon Marshall. Wake up. We gotta keep walking." Morgan held out her hand and patiently waited for me to grab it in return. I smiled and accepted her simple but kind gesture. I looked in my bag and opened the flashlight.
The cave was humid, making it pretty hard to breathe. Morgan, who is slightly afraid of the dark, put a brave face on and walked, searching for any evidence of my family. After walking down a straight path for a while, there was a dead end. I was in total disbelief. I ran to to the wall trying to open any secret doors. Nothing would work. I fell on my knees and sat, staring at the wall. Morgan walked to me, slowly. She felt the tension in the air and tried to soothe me. She bent down and sat on her legs. She ruffled my already messy hair and smiled.
"It's ok, bro. Let's try looking for anything that looks...out of the ordinary?" She said in cheery tone. I was now on my hands and knees looking for any clues. I felt an unusual bulge coming from the ground. I put my hand on it to see if it would do anything. And, it didn't really do much. Morgan was investigating the wall and it seemed to be that she was...translating?
"Hey, Marsh, try sitting on it. Just putting your hand on it won't do it. If that doesn't work, then I'll sit on the stone-thing with you. It says it needs a certain weight to show us the path to finding your family."
I did as I was told on sat on the bulge, incredulous that it would work. Then, out of nowhere, the room began to shake. I grabbed Morgan's hands and together, we fell into a dark hole that we knew would lead us to my family.
