Life couldn't get any worst for Taylor when her mother announces that she was getting remarried, making her move from Australia to the US. She disapproves of her mother getting remarried and doesn't understand how her mother could marry again after losing her husband and her twin daughters in an accident. As much as she hates her soon-to-be-stepfather, Taylor knows she has no choice to move, especially where she moves to is away from everything.
She soon befriends with her neighbour Morgan, who shows her not to hate life no matter what her mother has done or what had happened in her past. Taking her out to the forest beside their home, he teaches her how to catch fireflies, giving her a new view to what life is about and why she shouldn't hate it.
