I woke up to beaming sunlight hitting my face, everything was pounding, I could barely see straight and found it hard to get up, but managed to walk to the kitchen and pour myself some water in a probably used red solo cup. What the hell happened last night I asked myself as I examined the passed out drunken bodies scattered across the house. I had decided I wanted to get out of that place before everyone else began to wake up and so I grabbed the nearest bottle of Vodka and hit the road. Walking outside for the first time made me feel like a vampire. My eyes squinted at the brightness of the sun whilst my body began to sweat with the heat. It must've been around 6AM as the streets were practically dead as they were expected to be on a Saturday morning.

I began the walk home, bottle in one hand, cigarette in the other. I found myself deep in my own thoughts and barely managed to notice the fact a car was following me. In these sort of situations I never panicked. Honestly if anyone was to try anything with me Id feel almost bad for them. My outer appearance didn't always match my inner one, but I was grateful for that because I don't think id be such a fan of looking like a psychopathic murderer. The car continued to follow me for the next few minutes until I decided to finally turn round and stare directly into the front window. The sun was still beaming directly in my eyes and I couldn't quite makeout who it was until the car edged closer. Green, thats the first thing I saw. The car pulled up beside me as the passenger window came down I peered inside to find none other than Maya staring at me.

"Hey, did you want a lift somewhere?"She asked casually.
"What are you even doing up at this time?" I asked ignoring her previous question.
"Im a morning person, get in." That felt more like an order to me so I accepted opening the passenger door and slumping my body into the seat.
"Don't you think its a little early for Vodka?"She laughed staring at the bottle still firmly gripped in my left hand.
"Theres never really an appropriate time for Vodka" I responded wittingly. She shrugged and I took that as a win.

"So what are you doing driving round this early?" She glanced at me whilst I took another swig from the bottle. "Ive only just left Kaleb, after last night he wouldn't let me stay there and took me to his friends house, I couldn't sleep so I stole his car and here we are" She smiled brightly, my heart stopped each time she did that. Jesus Taylor pull yourself together I thought to myself.
" It must be annoying" I practically whispered "having your boyfriend make choices for you all the time." There was a hint of desperation in my voice that even I couldn't really understand. She eyed my face briefly before returning her eyes to the road and sighed loudly before answering.
"You have no idea." She was right, I had no idea, not a single clue and those two were a fine example of why I had never entered a relationship before. "Y'know I don't mean to intrude or anything considering we've only just met but, why do you manage to make yourself stay with him?" I was intrigued and waiting impatiently for her to answer.

She always seemed to take her time in finding the right words. Whereas I blurted out the first thing that came to mind, which probably explained the reasons for the many fights I had had in the past. "Forgiveness" that was it. That was all she said and somehow I felt I understood. I didn't press the subject any further as I could tell it was a touchy matter to her.  Instead I decided to make conversation about other things, hobbies and interests, fears and doubts.

Before we knew it we had arrived outside of my house. "Thank you for the lift" I smiled gratefully. "Anytime" She gleamed back at me.

I could practically see the sparks in between the two of us but chose to pretend they were nothing more than chemical reactions occurring in the air.

I went to get out before I felt a warm hand wrap around my wrist, I turned to face Maya who now looked oddly nervous. She handed me a small piece of paper before releasing my wrist.
"I'll see you around." She added before pulling off of my driveway in some sort of hurry.
