Taylor POV
It had been a quiet few days since hanging out with Maya on Saturday. We had exchanged several texts and a few phone calls discussing whatever the recent topic of conversation was that day, usually the recent drama with Kaleb. I couldn't stand it when she spoke about him but I realised if I wanted to get anywhere, friendship would have to be first.
I had shown up to school late that morning as usual and had walked into the class ignoring the muttering from beaver boy. I sat down and removed my headphones placing them into my pocket.
"Late again Ms. Steele" He began bravely. I glanced up looking directly into the eyes of the man who was now scowling at me, I wasn't in the mood today and he could tell.
"Yep, have you got a problem with that?" I replied sarcastically, adding a small smirk to my face whilst the other students around me started to laugh. I watched the man in amusement as he was clearly angry and offended at my previous statement.
"Just go" He answered, extending his left arm and pointing to the door. I pushed myself out of my seat grabbing my bag and placing my headphones back in.
"Already? Damn don't miss me too much" I teased, before pressing play on one of my favourite songs. I heard him respond but I was too engulfed in listening to my music to care at this point.Ride- Lana Del Ray
I've been out on that open road
You can be my full time daddy, white and gold
Singing blues has been getting old
But you can be my full time baby, hot or coldDon't break me down Ive been travelling too long
Ive been trying too hard With one pretty song*DING*
'Dammit' I thought to myself, 'who the hell is texting me this early' I glanced at my phone and my scowl was soon removed when I saw it was from Maya.
Maya: Hey loser, you free right now?
Me: Always :)
I silently cursed myself for looking so desperate, hoping it wouldn't push her away or change her mind, I had started to panic until I received another message.
Maya: *Address* Meet you in an hour :)
I sighed evidently relieved that she had not ran away at the mere look of my desperation.
It had been an hour and I had driven to the address she had sent to me, turns out it was the local ice skating rink. 'Shit' I thought to myself realising what I was in for. I had never been good at anything that required coordination and skating was no exception. Before I could think about it any further a loud knock sounded on the car window. Naturally my reaction was to jump which caused a loud laugh from Maya stood outside the car. I opened the car door, "You little shit do you think you're funny?" I asked still shaking.
She continued to laugh, "Im sorry, I didn't mean to" She burst into fits of laughter again.
Her laugh was so contagious and cute it made me forget about my pretend anger as she dragged me into the building next to us."You know I can't skate for the life of me right?" I asked, as she smirked.
"Guess you'll be my company and entertainment all in one" she winked at me. I felt a feeling in the pit of my stomach when looking at her smiling at me.
