"Levi! Calm down! How much did you have?!" The brunette yelled as she slammed the door shut. The raven, however, did not respond. Instead, he threw the glass bottle in the direction of the brunette, causing it to smash on the wall behind her. "Levi! Get a grip, come on! Do you think she'd be happy, seeing you like this?!" She screamed. The ravens eyes shot open. His usually calm and cool irises were now bloodshot red, the eye bags visible under his eyes and the disgusting reek of alcohol, clearly evident in his clothes and surrounding air."H..Hanji...I..." the raven did not finish as the tears took over. Hanji was quick to embrace him, her own tears making an entrance. They both sat there, sobbing as it had already been two months and the girl they loved most was almost like a statue. She wasn't getting any closer to recovery, and yet, she wasn't getting worse either. She was stuck in one place, oh and how it irritated Levi that the annoying machine the girl was plugged up to, kept beeping at a steady pace.
All he ever wanted was for her eyes to shoot open, for her to sit up and laugh that sweet laugh, showing him that she was in fact alive. But that did not happen. Instead, she laid there, lifeless, the cover crease stayed the same every time he visited, her hair was sprawled out the same everyday, only for Levi to change it, finding it unsettling how motionless it was. Her hair had lost its shine and was greasy. He was dying and so was his memory of her. It was killing him and everyone could see it.
Time skip.
Levi's POV
I've been counting down the days and weeks since that accident. Two months, three weeks and two days. And with every day I fall harder and the reality hits me harder. A bit of faith leaves my system. I don't know how much longer I can do this. I don't know how much longer my sanity will maintain.
Hanji's POV
I drove down the road as fast as I could. I only managed to tell Levi to get ready and that we have to get to the hospital. Kate rang me, as she is well aware of Levi's mental state and that he wouldn't be able to drive. Although I wasn't fit enough to drive either, I imagine Levi would be less capable than me.
"Hanji! What happened?! Is she ok?!" Levi screeched as he jumped in the car. The second that door shut, my foot was on the pedal and I was speeding towards the hospital. "Levi, please try to keep clam." I said in the calmest and most collective voice i have.
"Her heart stopped."
Silence....
."WHAT?????!!!!! DRIVE FASTER!!!!! PRESS ON IT!!!!! I....i..I NEED TO BE THERE. HURRY UP!!!" Levi screamed and shook in his seat. The life was drained out of his eyes and he was pale. It wasn't a secret he cared about her. "Is..is s-she..." he did not finish as his throat closed and a lump appeared in it. "No... they're fighting to bring her back.....I'm so sorry, Levi." I whispered as new tears stained my cheeks. I knew that Levi was probably on edge and drowning in his own tears, however, I couldn't do anything but drive.
When we arrived, Levi didn't even wait for me to properly stop the car. He was sprinting to the hospital doors. I felt so bad for him at that moment. I couldn't imagine loosing the last person I have and love. He was depressed but didn't want to acknowledge it. He didn't want help of any kind, yet still humoured me by going to the therapist. I know he's losing faith about her waking up and I make sure to reassure him, the problem is, I don't know if I believe the words I say. Will she ever wake up? Will she be fine? Will she survive?
How can I think that?! She's strong! She has to live! She...she...she just does....for me...for Levi! He needs her more than anyone else.
I heard from Kate, Melanie visited her. Obviously she didn't let her in, she resents her as much as I do, but no one could match Levi's level of hate for her. Apparently, she wanted to know if 'the brat' is making it up. She did not expect her to be in a coma. Kate explained that she screamed at her, telling her that it's all fake and that she'll sue the hospital. She signed the papers and left. Stupid if you ask me.
Kate had a hard time trying to calm Levi down, and in the end had to give him an injection to do so. Now if there's one hung Levi is scared of the most, it's needles. Let's just say that it was 5'3 tall Levi vs 3 6' ft security, let your imagination go wild.
After Levi 'calmed down', he was left to cry until he had nothing else to cry with. For the 4 hours we were there, he drank 25 cups of water and went to the toilet only twice. The rest was transformed into salty droplets. I've honestly, never seen Levi in such a bad state and it broke my heart. Knowing him, he'd be worried over her, but also feel bad about the trouble of me driving him here and taking care of him. No matter how many times I tell him it's fine, he feels guilty and bad five minutes later. I want her to live and wake up, not just for my benefit but for his. If she dies, he'll completely shut off, if she doesn't wake up soon, he'll fall deeper into his depression. At the moment it's bad enough, I don't want him getting any worse.
Levi's POV
I cried more than i intended to and after 4 hours, my head was not alright. However, the second that doctor stepped out, everything went away. I got up and ran to him, questioning if she's alright, if she's alive...
