Skye

"Skylar get up before I come up there!"

Ugh! My name is always being yelled at for no reason. It's Saturday and I know I have dance class, but sometimes I wanna sleep in and not have to do stuff.

I looked at my clock and it's 8 am. Dance starts at 10 but my mom always have me running on the treadmill for 30 minutes, while I sing, to build stamina. It definitely pays off because I'm the best in my vocal and dance classes, but she's like Joe Jackson when it comes to fitness. I threw on one of my many Nike bra and shorts set and headed towards our gym.

"You're 15 minutes late so you can run for 45  instead of 30." My mom said.

I groaned but got on the treadmill and did what I had to do. After my drill sergeant a.k.a mom watched my post workout stretch, she passed me a water bottle and I followed her to the kitchen.

"So after your dance class we gotta go shopping for dorm stuff and clothes okay." She said. I nodded my head and finished chewing my eggs.

"Can we go to The Grove instead of Melrose Ave?" I asked.

"You don't like it? What's wrong with the stores there?" She asked.

"Ma none of the stores that I like are there plus I'm 17, not 30. I like simple clothes plus paparazzi are bound to be there." I said. My mom loves buying me expensive clothes, which it cool sometimes, but my style is very chill and relaxed. Honestly most of my wardrobe comes from vintage thrift shops and Goodwill.

"Alright but Julius is going to have to come." That's expected but I'm still not used to having bodyguards when I'm out with my mom.

"Allow me to reintroduce myself my name is...." [LMAO]

OKAY SERIOUSLY, My name is Skylar Carter but only my mom and dad call me that. I go by Skye and I'm a singer/dancer and aspiring entrepreneur. My parents are Shawn "Jay Z" Carter and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. They're music royalty and I love them to death. I'm an only child and originally I spent my childhood in New York, but around middle school we moved to California. We live in Calabasas which is known as the Kardashian city but whatever. I find it more dope that Toni Braxton is my next door neighbor than having the Kardashians near us.

I double checked my dance bag and rushed down the stairs. My mom was already in the car with our driver and once I got in we pulled off.

*After dance class*

"You did great out there Skylar." My mom said once practice was over. I'm a lyrical dancer, but today we had a guest instructor named Yanis and he wanted us all in heels for a sexy dance routine. I'm a pro at dancing in heels and obviously I got that from my mom, but his routine wasn't exactly a breeze.

"Thanks mom. Give me a second to change and I'll be out." I left my mom in the room as people from class came up to her for pictures.

I wore Ivy Park, which is my mom's clothing line, to class but since I'm a sweaty mess I kept the leggings on & added a windbreaker over my sports bra. I walked back out to the front of the studios and saw my mom waiting for me. We left to go shopping.

"So do you like these sheets to go with your theme?" My mom held up. I turned to look at the bedding and shook my head no. My theme was all-white with accents of teal but she was looking at purple decor.

"I want my side of the dorm to be all-white. So like white rugs, sheets, bedding, pillows...all that." I said.

"What if your roommate has like bright green sheets or something? It's not going to look good so you need to pick a theme that's workable with any color." She said.

"She may have something pink or purple so my choice will be fine. I'll change the decorations so the accents can be colorful but I still want all-white bedding." I said.

I'll be leaving for college in a couple of months and I'm so excited yet nervous! I can't wait to experience  independence and see what college life is all about. And because I'm an only child, I've never shared a living space with anyone so this should be interesting.

"Okay we really gotta decide on a color so we can go look at clothes. Your father plans on meeting us later for dinner." My mom said.

I finally chose the colors and got everything I wanted off my list as we made our way to checkout.
