I hit the alarm clock and looked over to see KK knocked out. It's 7 am and I'm about to go for a quick jog. I slept in my workout gear so I wouldn't have to try to find an outfit. I got out of bed and grabbed a hair tie to pull my box braids into a bun. I tried to make as little noise as possible as I tied my shoelaces and grabbed my keys. The crisp air hit my bare face as I placed my wireless Beats headphones in my ears and stretched.

Last night once Summer left the room, of course I texted my mom about finally meeting her. I'm such a Mommy's girl so she had to know. I didn't really know the next time I can call her.

I really don't think KK knows who I am, which is awesome for me. I mean, wouldn't she have said something the more we talked? She's really down to earth and I learned that we're both Business majors. She wants to own a dance studio in her neighborhood someday and I want to become an entertainer like my parents but I need to be business savvy first.

I only ran for 30 minutes around a small portion of campus and headed back to my dorm. It's almost 8am when I came back and KK is still asleep. I got my toiletries, towel, shower cap and flip flops and went for a shower.

My waterproof speakers blasted my Sunday worship playlist and I sung along in the shower. After I was done I made sure to lotion my body and slip on my underwear. I tied my towel securely around my body as I made my way inside our room.

"Morning." I heard. I had just closed the door.

"Good morning." I said. "Did I wake you up?"

"No you didn't. My body kind of programs to wake up early no matter what day it is." Summer said.

"Oh okay. I went running earlier and didn't wanna make any noise." I said.

I opened my closet door to place my bra on and tank top.

"I hope you don't mind me walking around in my undergarments. I should've laid my clothes out." I said.

"Girl I don't care about that. I'm like that too but I didn't know how you felt about slight nudity." She said laughing.

"I'm cool with it. We all got the same parts." I said laughing.

"Would you like to get breakfast with me?" I asked.

"Sure. Give me a couple of minutes and I'll be ready."

We both swiped our cards to get breakfast and it was slightly packed for 9 am. I scanned the room looking for my mom and saw her wiping tables down.

"Imma find us a seat and meet you back in line." I told Skye. She went ahead as I went towards my mom.

"Hey Mommy."  I said. She turned around and gave me a hug.

"Good morning baby. You came to eat or say hey?" She asked.

"Eat. I'm actually here with my roommate." I said.

"Oh yeah where she at?"

"Standing in line but stay here and we'll find a table over here so you can meet." I said. She went back to cleaning while I walked towards Skye.

We both grabbed plates and told the cook what we wanted.

"KK where you wanna sit?" Skye asked.

"Um we can sit by the windows." I said . We started walking.

"Oh and my mom works here...do you wanna meet her?" I asked.

"Sure."

"Ma this is Skylar my roommate. Skye this is my mom." I introduced them and they hugged. It wasn't weird at all for me to introduce my Mom to Skye and I'm glad because I'm never ashamed of anything about my life. My mom works here so of course I'm going to introduce my roommate to her. It'd be crazy not to.

"So how has night one been for you two?" My mom asked us.

"It's been cool. I'm still not used to being away from home but I like it so far." Skye said.

"Yeah it's different but I can get used to it." I said.

"Alright well y'all go ahead and eat your food and Summer I'll stop by later okay?" My mom said.

"Okay."

"Nice meeting you Skylar."

"You too...wait what do I call you?" Skye asked confused. My mama laughed. I kinda didn't let my mama really talk during their introduction.

"You can call me Ms. Michelle or Mama Chelle...don't matter."

"Okay Mama Chelle it is. See ya!" My mom said her goodbyes and walked off.

"Your mom is really cool." Skye said.

"Thanks. She's pretty chill and literally everyone refers to her as their mom." I said.

"So did you always know you were coming here because your mom is here?" She asked.

"Nah I really didn't want to go here but this school has a good business department and plus I got a scholarship. Having my mom here is just a bonus." I said.

I'm tearing this breakfast up. So is Skye. She can eat like me.

"How you think the first week of classes will be?" She asked.

"Easy I hope. I'm glad we have most of our classes together which is mad crazy." I said.

"Right who would've thought."

After we ate we went back to our room and chilled until my mom came to see our place. She loved what Aunt Kelly did and complimented Skye's side too. Tomorrow's the first day of college and I'm happy, yet nervous at the same time.
