Wow, Here's Another Chapter

Chapter 5

The next morning, I rolled over, and felt something warm. I jerked awake, reeling backwards, and in the dark, I saw BEN, his arm draped lazily over me. The events of last night came back to me, and I sighed, shuffling back towards the boy.

Suddenly, BEN's arm went taut, pulling me to him. He made a hissing sound, and I jumped slightly.

"Touch Lucy, and you'll meet with a terrible fate, Jack," he said, and I felt my heart skip a beat. "You shouldn't have done that," BEN said, his voice taking on an aggressive tone, and the lights in the room started to flicker. I giggled slightly, and BEN relaxed.

"BEN," I said, poking him. "Wake up." BEN opened his eyes slowly, and I smiled. "Morning, sunshine," I whispered.

"Morning Luce," he said, and I felt sick. Peter was the only one who ever called me Luce, and it hurt to hear the nickname. BEN seemed to realize this, and he looked down, embarrassed. "Sorry, Lucy. I forgot..."

"It's fine, really. It doesn't matter. You can call me Luce if you want," I said, instantly regretting it. BEN shook his head.

"Nah, I'll stick with Lucy. Is that okay?" he asked, and I nodded.

"Yep, it's okay!" I said, as I pushed myself out of bed. I turned on the light, and sighed, looking down at my pajama's. They had stains on them-blood from my family and mud from the forest-and they were badly cut up. I bit back a gasp as I saw my hair. It was tangled, and had leaves and twigs stuck in it.

I bit my lip as I opened the bedroom door and walked out. Smile was lying near the door, and his he looked up as soon as he saw me walk out the door.

He barked happily as he jumped on me, pushing me to the ground. His smile grew even bigger as I hugged him.

"Good morning, boy! What are we going to do today?" I asked, and I heard an unfamiliar voice answer.

"He says that you're going to explore the mansion and forest today."

I turned around to see a man with a black and white nose. He looks me up and down, and finally he laughs. "My name is Laughing Jack. You must be Lucy, the only human in the house."

I nod and he holds out a piece of candy to me. I take it, and he grins.

"What's this?" I asked, and he shrugs.

"Lucy... What is the point of being a clown, if you don't give out candy?" he said, and I smiled. "Have a good day," he said, and he walks away, leaving Smile and I alone in the hall. I unwrap the candy, and pop it into my mouth.

Suddenly, the world starts spinning and I hear a static sound. I feel as if I am going to be sick. I feel my fingers start to go numb, and the feeling spreads up my body, making me feel like I am no longer a person.

And then, it all stops. I look around, and suddenly, I hear a voice.

"Lucy?" it asks, and I look around.

"Ummm... Hello?" I ask, and I hear a sigh. Another voice speaks, once again unfamiliar.

"These humans. They are always so unattentive."

"Oh be quiet, Grinny. Lucy's smart!"

I look down and see Smile and a black cat staring at me. I assume the cat is Grinny, and I look down at it, just as I see Eyeless Jack coming towards me.

"Hey, Lucy! What's up?" he asked.

"Well, I just met the other Jack. He gave me some candy... And now I'm hearing voices," I say, as EJ looks at me.

"Oh, Laughing Jack? Yeah, he's an odd one. And those are Smile's and Grinny's voices your hearing. The candy Jack gave you allows humans to hear their voices."

I looked at Smile and Grinny, who start laughing.

"Humans," I heard Grinny say, and I start laughing as well.
