Chapter 16

BEN's words stung, and a thought formed, making me cringe. Was I a... A cheater?

"BEN!" I called, and he glared at me and walked away.

"Have fun with Jeff," he growled, and I felt Jeff's hand on my arm. I felt my heart crumble, and I leant back onto Jeff, his arms snaking around my waist and pulling me into him. I let out a choked sob and I gripped Jeff's arm hard.

He kissed the top of my head. "Its alright. I won't hurt you, Lucy. I love you too much."

We stood for a couple of seconds like this, his lips against the top of my head, his arms around my waist, my hands gripping his arm, and I pushed away.

"If you loved me you would have let me stay with BEN! You are selfish, and I hate you!" I screamed, and Jeff gritted his teeth, his jaw moving.

"Then why did you kiss me the second time? If you had wanted to be happy with BEN, then you wouldn't have taken it the extra step," Jeff snarled, and I slapped him. He didn't move, so I slapped him again and again.

"Stop it Lucy."

I collapsed, my chest heaving as I cried. I felt Jeff hug me again, but this time I welcomed it as I felt him kiss me softly.
