“Kelli I don’t see your sister anywhere!” I kept looking up at the board with all the flights on it. Most flights were either cancelled or delayed. “Are you sure she didn’t get cancelled?”
“Yes Brooke! She is here somewhere.” I was reading some of the other flights. The flights from Florida and New York were the only two flights that could land on time. A plane from Toronto Canada had already landed. It made me sad. I just wanted Baylor to be here.
Kelli didn’t seem worried at all that her sister wasn’t here. From a distance I could see some kind of team grabbing their luggage from the rack. They were all matching wearing grey sweats and a grey hoodie.
One guy really stuck out to me. He was wearing a snapback and Beats that led to his phone in his pocket. His brown hair was long enough to flip right above his eyes so he could see. I watched him take off his beats and put them back in his bag. He turned his snapback around backwards. It looked like a hockey team but I still couldn’t see that great.
“Whoa. That guy over there is really hot.” I whispered to Kelli.
“What about Baylor?” She asked giving me a weird look. The boy started walking towards us near the exit.
“That’s funny. He kinda looks like Baylor.” I paused and he kept coming closer. “A lot like Baylor.”
“Oh Brookie. Don’t be crazy.”
“That is Baylor!” I screamed it. I hit Kelli in the arm by mistake because I was so excited. Baylor and I were caught each others eyes at the same time. He set his bags down when I started running towards him.
“Baby, I’m home.” I heard him say before I jumped into his arms. He caught me and spun me around but didn’t put me down. I started crying. He still held me up. “Shhhh I’m home.” Baylor whispered in my ear again. I tried to control my tears but I couldn’t. We kissed right there in the airport not even caring about anybody else seeing.
Baylor put me down not letting go of me. We stood there just hugging for like 5 minutes. It was quite. A good quite though.
I finally broke the silence. “What are you doing here? How long are you going to stay? Are you crazy?” I started asking him billions of questions.
Baylor was smiling just as much as I was. “Well you know how my team travels. We have a game tomorrow here in Columbus. I have three days here and yes. I’m crazy for you.” My heart sank a little bit when he said three days. That really wasn’t a long time but I guess it’s better than nothing.
“I’m so happy you are here.” I smiled looking up at Baylor with a huge smile. He was holding my hand not letting go. I couldn’t blame him. “What team are you going to play against?”
“Umm I think my coach said The Cardinals or something.”
“What? That’s my team! Well I mean was.” I looked down in disappointment.
Baylor stopped walking and lifted my head up. “Listen to me. That is still your team okay? Just because you got injured doesn’t mean you won’t get back at it again.” It sent chills through my body. He leaned over and kissed me.
I walked out of the airport with Baylor and Kelli. Kelli wanted to go home so we could have some alone time. I didn’t try to stop her. Once she was gone I drove to Texas Roadhouse. Baylor didn’t get anything to eat today.
“So may I ask why you haven’t been talking to me lately?”
“Yes. I’m sorry babe. I can’t keep a secret. I found out I was coming here last week. I just wanted to surprise you.” I he put his hand on my leg while I was driving.
“So you didn’t find somebody else?”
“What? Brooke, no. That is crazy.” Baylor looked offended.
“I’m sorry. You know what happened between me and Cody. I just got worried.”
“I thought you trusted me!” He started to raise his voice.
“I do trust you. Don’t take it that way. I love you Bay.”
“I love you too. Oh and I talked to my coach and I can go hang out with you on my free time. I just have to be there every night by 10 o’clock.”
“Alright. Do you think I should tell my parents?” I asked.
“Well I’m here now. Let’s just get it over with.” It was a good point.
We stayed and ate dinner with him. We talked for an extra two and a half hours after we were done eating. Baylor wanted to see the city so I took him out to explore. He loved it here. I never though the night would. It was so perfect with him near me.
“Come skating with me!” Baylor whined to me.
“Babe. I haven’t skated for a whole year. I doubt I’m any good.”
“Please? For good luck!”
I finally gave in and took him to the rink. I had to run home and grab my skates. I told my mom I was staying the night at Kelli’s. It was around 7 when we got there. It was just us. I tied my skates and took a few careful steps onto the ice.
“I don’t think this is a good idea. I think we should go somewhere else.”
“It’s fine. Face your fears.” He was laughing but I started to fall. He caught me before I did. Baylor didn’t let go. We skated side by side until I started picking up speed getting the hang of things again. Before I knew it I was skating like a pro again. It was easy.
Around 8 o’clock the rink started filling up for open rink time. Most people were very reckless and didn’t know what they were doing. We stayed anyways. It was so much fun and the DJ was great. My ankle was starting to hurt but I didn’t tell Baylor even though I think he saw it in my face.
It was around 9 o’clock when we decided to leave. I didn’t want to get stuck in the snow and make Baylor late. I got a worker to carry all of Baylors bags and equipment up to his room. Since is was a lot I gave him an extra tip.
“Are you limping?” Baylor asked me worried.
“No.” I said playing it off.
“Brooke. Don’t lie to me. You are.” Before I could say anything else he picked me up. He carried me all the way to his room. My arms were around his neck and my face into his neck. I waited what felt like forever for this moment.
“Hey, Jessie? I have a guest staying with us tonight. Don’t tell coach.” Baylor yelled to as he sat me on the bed.
“Yeah. No worries man.” The blonde boy replied.
Since I forgot my clothes Baylor let me wear one of his shirts that was way to big on me and a pear of basketball shorts. He was playing with my hair and I slowly shut my eyes. I fell asleep with my head on his chest. I never slept so good in my life.
