I woke up around 4 o’clock still in Baylor’s arms. I like the feeling of security and warmth. His eyes fluttered open as I looked up at him. “You okay?” He asked gently but I didn’t answer. I shoved my face farther into his chest.

An older man with a white lab coat and glasses walked in. “Hello Brooke, I’m Doctor Machino. I have to say that I am very shocked that you have no memory loss. You hit your head pretty hard. You were so wedged in the car we had to get a whole fire department cut you out. Now you’re here and okay. You can leave tomorrow morning.” The doctor looked bored. Which out even letting me ask any questions he walked out.

As the doctor was telling me how they saved my life it made me think about how it all happened. “I was giving up.” Baylor looked down at me confused. “I was giving up on us. I couldn’t wait any longer. I needed you.”

“You don’t have to wait any longer. You can come back home with me if you want. I’ll pay for your school up in Vancouver. Babe, it’ll be okay.” He kissed my forehead.

“But what about if my parents tell me no?” I asked.

“Oh you’re parents have a lot to say.” My mom spoke out while storming into the room with my step-dad. My dad wasn’t there. Typical. “But we talked to Baylor for the past month since he wouldn’t leave your side. He’s a nice, loyal boy. You can go with him back Vancouver if that’s what you really want. We are just disappointed that you lied to us and never told us you had a boyfriend.” My step-dad stayed quite. They walked back out.

“Well I guess this is goodbye old friend.” A sad voice came from outside the door. Kelli came walking in straight to the bed with arms wide open. She gave me a huge hug. “Why are you still in bed?” She laughed at Baylor. She was happy for me but sad to lose somebody so close to her.

“I’ll come back to visit all the time. I promise.” I told her.

Baylor rolled out of bed. “Well I mean if it’s such a big deal that I want to cuddle with my girl.” Kelli gave him a play punch in the arm.

“’I’ll come visit you too. Don’t forget about me girl! I cleaned out our dorm of your stuff. It’s all packed up and ready to go. The plane leaves tomorrow at noon.” Kelli smiled at Baylor then back to me.

“I need to go get your stuff tonight and I have to go back to the hotel and grab a shower. Visiting hours ended 20 minutes ago. I love you and I’ll be back, I promise.” Baylor came over and kissed me one last time. He grabbed his wallet off of the table and left.

Kelli walked over to the couch and sat down kicking her feet back. “Ummmm I thought visiting hours were over?” I asked confused.

“Brooke? Do I ever listen to these stupid rules? I think we both know the answer to that, plus it’s the last day to spend with my best friend. We sat and talked until 11 at night when a mean nurse came in and kicked Kelli out.

I slept for most of the night but I woke up once in the night in a cold sweat. My nerves started to kick in that in a few hours I would be leaving for Vancouver with Baylor. I would be starting a whole new life with a lot of new people. I can’t believe this day is actually happening.
