The Shower of Ice

The ever pelting spheres of ice

Race down the bare skin of my back

As the time stops for a second flat

I close my eyes in ephemeral bliss

The cacophonous sound of my heart’s beat

Echoes into my hollow stomach

The fear of being caught

Seep into my mind

Along with the thought of defeat

The ice ceases at once

As my bliss is invaded by hate

The blood stains on my soul

Are nugatory now

The knob of destiny turns to the right

As I fight and fight

For the relief I used to know

The scorch of temerity ripples beneath the layer

Between me and his lair

The wave of familiar ice

Washes over me

As I step out

Of what used to be
