One Month Later
Kyria rolled over and looked at her clock. It was 7:30, she needed to get up soon. She has to meet Akira at 8:00.
She sat up, pushed her blankets off, and opened her inventory. She decided on a blue dress that cut off a few inches above her knees. It had long, draping sleeves. Over the dress she wore a leather bodice and slung her bow and quiver over her shoulders. Under the dress she wore tan leggings and tall brown boots. She pulled her hair back into a braid and stood up.
She walked over to the window lost in thought. It had all ready been one month since Kayaba Akihiko had made his announcement and they still hadn't found the first boss door. The threat of death hung over Kyria like a dark cloud.
She stepped away from the window and walked out of her room in the inn. In the parlor of the inn Akira was waiting for her. He smiled as he saw her walk in.
"You ready to go hunting again?" He asked.
"Yet again," Kyria sighed. Akira laughed and took her hand, "Let's go," he said. They walked out of the inn and used their crystals to teleport to the forest where they presumed the dungeon to the boss door to be.
They walked forward into the forest, and made it about a mile before they encountered a monster. A large bear with red eyes appeared in front of them.
"I got it," Akira said, stepping forward. He drew his sword and ran forward he jumped and hit the bear with a diagonal slash. He landed on the ground rolling to the side, dodging the bear's attack. After dodging he stood up and stabbed the bear in the back. It shattered into a million fragments and disappeared. Akira sheathed his sword and fell back in step with Kyria.
"Not bad," she smirked.
"Not bad? It didn't even touch me!" He retorted. Kyria laughed and elbowed him in the side.
They continued down the path until it opened up into a clearing. The ground was covered with grass and flowers. Akira walked forward and picked a flower. He turned around and tucked it behind Kyria's ear.
"This is a beautiful place" Kyria said looking around,"so many flowers. It's hard to believe that this is a video game."
"Yeah," Akira replied," We've been stuck here so long it seems like this is more of a reality than the world back home is"
"It's only been a month" Kyria laughed.
"I know but it seems like a long time. Anyway, we have to keep going."
"Yeah"
They walked back into the trees and continued searching.
* * *
They had been walking for a few hours, defeating monsters every now and then. When they came to a pond with a small waterfall. Kyria and Akira looked at each other and grinned. They equipped their swimsuits and ran to the top of the waterfall.
"One! Two! Three!" They both jumped and did cannonballs into the water. As soon as they surfaced they burst out laughing.
"Look Akira!" Kyria exclaimed," there's a bunch of fish and look how colorful they are"
"Wow, that's amazing" he said looking down into the crystal clear water at the tons of fish below them.
They swam around for a while, splashing each other and doing dives and jumps off the side of the waterfall. Eventually they got out and lay on the banks of the pond, drying out.
"That was so much fun" Kyria said rolling over to look at Akira. His toned muscles flexed as he turned to look back at her. She realized she'd been staring and blushed. He grinned.
"I agree haha, you admiring my amazing body?" He asked still grinning. Kyria turned an even darker shade of red. He scooted closer to her and wrapped his arms around her. Kyria's heart thudded against her chest. They were still in their swimsuits and she could feel Akira's warm skin against her own. His chest rose and fell with each breath he took. He reached over and brushed her neck with a light kiss. She relaxed a little and snuggled closer to him, it was starting to get dark and the air was starting to cool.
"We should head back to the inn," Akira said finally, but neither of them moved. They sat there for a while longer then Kyria said," yeah, we really should get up"
Grudgingly the pulled apart and equipped their regular clothes back on.
"Crystal?" Akira said handing her a blue teleport crystal.
"See you back at the inn," Kyria replied as the white light enveloped them both.
