Chapter three

Child at heart

Sitting in his desk, Jack jumps around and sees none other than Captain James Hook standing in the door way of his accounting business. The fire in his eye has reignited once he laid eye on the boy who caused all his misery. His long, brown hair was will a messy as the day he last laid eyes on him. His hook was as shiny as ever. He hadn't aged a day.

"Oh Peter, Peter Pan," Hook began "You've grown up. The one thing you swore you'd NEVER do."

"I beg your pardon?" Jack questioned the man.

"Don't play games with my boy," Hook warned him. "You can pretend for you precious Wendy but I can see past your alias but you can't fool me," Hook growled.

Jack was surprised Hook wasn't killing him right then and there. He kept thinking to himself what's his game?

"I could kill you, but that would be too easy. I want to have little fun with this." Hook smirks, mischievously. "Watch out for your precious Wendy and you little family. Enjoy the time you have with them...there won't be much more." Hook finished and laughed as he turned around sharply and walked out the door.

That little visit made Jack realize who he was. He didn't want to be an accountant. He didn't want to live a boring life. He wanted ore than anything to be a boy... he wanted to have fun. He forgot. He's not Jack, he's Peter. He pretended all these years that he wasn't Peter Pan.  He pretended to be someone he wasn't, just to become the man Wendy deserved but Wendy didn't deserve a lying husband. He couldn't hurt her anymore. The lie has come to far to tell her just yet, but he needed to protect her and the children from Hook's threat. He was a crazy man that was capable of doing crazy things.

Peter took an early day. He left work early. He wasn't sure if he would ever return. He didn't want a boring accountant job, he wanted adventure.

Peter walked down the streets of London while thinking up a plan. Does he tell Wendy his secret? He didn't want to tell her so he came up with a temporary fix. He would tell Wendy he had a business trip somewhere and that he'd like the whole family to come. Being away from Hook would give him more time to think of a plan. He may be an adult now but he hasn't grown up. Peter was still a child at heart. He was smart, but that didn't mean he knew what he was doing. He had a million thoughts going through his head. His thoughts were interrupted when a woman spoke to him.

"Sir are you alright?" The woman asked him, with genuine concern.

"Yes, uh, I am, ma'am. Th-thanks," Peter stuttered. He didn't realize his worried were apparent on his face. There's no way he could hide that from Wendy.

"The streets are not a place you'd like to be right now. The are many thieves out today and there are currently three people missing. Police advise you stay at home with your family," the woman warns him. Peter was in shock. He had no idea. He was worried about his family, but decided to use that as a cover up for his worry with Captain Hook.

Peter ran home to check on his family. He walked in his front door, panicking. His heavy breathing could be heard in the other room. Wendy came to see what was wrong.

"Jack what's wrong?" Wendy asked him, she was very worried.

Peter explained what the woman had told him, but Wendy didn't know what he was talking about. Nobody else in the neighborhood knew what he was talking about either. They all thought he was crazy.

"Dear are you feeling alright?" Wendy asks her husband as she places the back of her hand in his forehead to check if he had a fever. Peter nodded, then excused himself. He needed more time to think. Why would the lady lie to him?

What kind of trap was this? Was Captain Hook behind all of this? All these thoughts ran through his head. He needed to figure out a way to defeat Captain Hook once and for all.
