(Going back and rewriting/editing all the chapters before I pick this story up again)
"God Lance, it's like you don't even think!" Keith groaned, crossing his arms and assuming his usual pissed-off stance. Raising my eyebrows, I tried to think of a comeback.
"Well you- you, um... Ugh! Forget it!" I huffed, turning away from him.
"Guys, come on, we can't have you arguing like this all the time, you're acting like children!" Shiro scolded. I rolled my eyes.
"Shiro, I hate to break it to you, but we are kids. You, Allura, and Coran are the only adults," Pidge said. Shiro sighed, pinching his brow.
"Right, I keep forgetting. But that doesn't change my point. You two need to try to be just a bit more mature sometimes," he frowned. I sighed.
"Fine, I'm sorry. If we're done, I'm just gonna go relax," I mumbled, turning to leave.
"You're not skipping dinner, are you?" Hunk asked, sounding concerned.
"Maybe. I'm not that hungry," I shrugged, walking away.I walked through the long halls of the castle to my room, my footsteps echoing in the silence.
Shiro's right, I thought. But it's not like I haven't been trying! Just because Keith thinks that trusting his instincts is the right way to do things, doesn't mean that it's the right way for the rest of us! Not to mention making one tiny mistake just pisses him off these days. It's not like we were actually engaged in battle! It's just a training sequence! I grumbled to myself as I got to my door. It slid open smoothly, and I walked in, flopping down on my bed. It's not that I hate Keith. It's not that I don't like him either. When we're being serious, we actually work together pretty well. I'm glad to call him my teammate, and my friend. He just needs to take it down a notch sometimes. We did grow a bit closer in the time Shiro was gone, and when he first came back. I said at first that I didn't know why I chose to talk to Keith when Shiro first came back, or still saw him as our team leader. But if I'm really being honest with myself, I didn't trust Shiro at that moment. He seemed... different. He still does. I don't know what it is. Small things mostly, like the way he acts a bit strange, or his hair. He was only missing for around a month, there's no way his hair could've grown that much in such a short time. But other than that, I have no reason not to trust him. I'm just over exaggerating, I guess.
Yawning, I pulled my jacket off and tossed it across the room. Training today was brutal, and I honestly needed a nap. I felt like passing out on the spot. I pulled the covers over me, and turned off the lights, drifting off to sleep.
I woke up a while later. It felt like I'd only been sleeping for a few minutes. I sat up, feeling tired, but not enough to go back to sleep. I swung my legs off the bed and grabbed my jacket off the floor, yawning and leaving my room. Everyone else was likely asleep by now. I guess I missed dinner after all. Maybe Coran was awake. He always seemed to be up to keep an eye on things. I didn't feel like talking to him right now though. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and headed down the hall. I knew where I wanted to go.
Walking through the halls at night had become a habit for me. By now I pretty much knew where everything was. Especially where I was headed. I peeked into the main control room. No one was there, not even Coran. I slipped in, walking past Allura's post and sitting down in front of the main window. The vast expanse of space was all I could see, with just a few stars twinkling in the distance. I couldn't see any planets nearby. I leaned my forehead against the glass, staring out into the dark void. I sighed, my breath fogging up the glass. I usually came here to think when I couldn't sleep. It was a pretty nice view after all.
Suddenly, I heard the door slide open. Knowing it was probably Allura or Coran, I sighed and kept facing the window.
"I know what you're gonna say. 'I should go back to sleep', right?" I muttered.
"Lance?"It wasn't Coran or Allura. It was Keith.
