Chapter 23 | Gangster Boo

Rain poured onto Francesca's freshly done hair as she ran to her car. The lightning thudded and the trees swayed causing her to jump. All that was on her mind was getting a chance to finally see Kingston.

She slowly began to drive on the rode, being causing not to cause any sudden collisions on the street. It was hard driving in weather like this when so much rain drooped onto the window. It was a rush hour. but the rain began to let up.

Just when she decided to pick up speed some drunk driver sped diagonally down the streets causing several cars to emerged into one another. "Are you fucking kidding me right now?" She yelled out to no one in particular.

Today wasn't really her day. Aside from waking up on the wrong side of the bed from crying all night and waking up to a phone call letting her know that Taylor was missing, she just didn't know what to do. The only thing she could do was hope for the best and pray that everything will be alright for everyone.

Finally, she approached the hospital's parking lot; she paid her fair and proceeded inside the garage to find a decent spot. There was an open spot right next to the elevator, and the car that was originally there was now moving out.

She eased her car in, but locked eyes with Montez, who was walking lonesomely.Hastily, she parked her car to get out and hug him. "Did they give you some good news?" She asked hoping that her baby was coming home to her once and for all.

He looked up at her and back down at the ground, stuffing his hands in his pocket. He just simply shook his head "no" and waited for his mother to catch up with him. "He's falling into a coma." He told her.

What was there to say? All night she was hoping and praying that it was all a dream, but eveything that's been happening was all real. All of it.

She couldn't look at anyone. Not Montez. Not his mother. Not even herself. She was so fed up with the cruel ass world. It felt as if the whole world was turning on her because she was happy for once.

I guess no one wants me to be happy. She thought to herslef as she passed Montez and his mother to go into the hospital.

Once inside she headed towards the receptionist desk and asked to be sent up to Kingston's room. "May I see your ID?" He asked.

She reached into her pocket to retrieve her wallet, so that he could scan her ID. He took a glance and then handed it back, "You're all set to go. Here's your visitor's pass. The person you're visiting is in room 412."

"Thank you." She put on her pass and headed straight to Kingston's room.

There were a cluster of nurses in front of his room having a minor discussion about someone suffering from a heart attack. Like any other day, she would be nosey, but all she wanted to do was see her baby.

Easing pass the nurses, she headed into the room. He looked normal. His skin was still vibrant. His muscles were still buff with healthy green veins popping out at you and his physique filled the room. The only thing that was different was that he was here, but he wasn't.

Francesca took a seat next to him, taking hs hand into her very own. She leaned in to kiss his cheek, but it saddened her when she realized that she wasn't going to get a response back. Should she be mad? She didn't know.

Her heart ached of pain, yet she just laid her light head upon his cheek and closed her eyes. She felt closer to him when they were next to one another and she felt safe knowing that she could indeed sleep with her love again.

While Francesca laid sleepily on his chest, Kingston was trapped in his very own mind going crazy.

Everything around him was white. He didn't know where he was and how he got there, but what he did know was that he wanted to go back home to see Francesca. He stood up from off what he thought was the ground and looked at his surroundings.

Where the fuck I'm at? He asked himself.

A pair of heavy hands slapped him on the shoulder causing him to turn around. Never in a million years did Kingston think that he would see all the men that inspired him today. Standing before him was his younger brother, his granfather, and Montel; his three favorite people in the world.

He ran towards the three and hugged them like it was there last time. They all smiled looking down at the man that they raised with nothing but a dream and a dollar.

"I missed y'all. Alot. Life ain't the same without the three of you here with me. I honestly don't know how I sleep at night, but every since I met Francesca things been different. She changed my whole life around. I decided to give up the empire sooner than I imagined. I want to settle down with her. I want to spend my life with her. I love her so much, and I ain't ready to let her go."

"Do you know where you are, son?" His grandfather asked him curiously.

"No." He answered honestly.

Montel chuckled looking at his best friend, "This is the in between, man. I told you about this place a long time ago."

"So damn near dead right now?"

"Yeah, you are." His younger brother said to him.

"I'm gone get to go back down to earth with my baby, right? I can't just leave her like this, man. She need me. I told her I was gone be hers always and forever, and that's what I mean."

"That all depends on whether or not you should get a second chance."

"Whose choice is that to decide?"

"Quite frankly, it's up to you. You say that the lovely lady right here needs you." Montel pointed down onto earth, showing Kingston the image of Francesca lying onto his helpless body inhospital, "But, are you going to protect her? I mean look at you. You plan on doing all these things with her, but you can't make a big move with anyone unless you gone put your all into it, man. You right when you say she needs you because she do, but you need her too. The both of you came a long way, but before you ask yourself if you deserve another chance on earth, you need to ask yourself are you man enough to sacrifice your life for the woman you're deeply in love with."

"Let Montel's words linger in your head, and we came finish this discussion when you have an answer."

"How am I gone know when y'all gone be back?"

"We're a pigment of your imagination, you can bring us back whenever you want to."

And with that, the three men dispersed back to heaven.

Kingston looked down at the image of him and Francesca, imagining that he was there with her for real. All he wanted to do was wrap his arms around her body. To kiss her and tell her that everything would be alright forever and always, but he couldn't because honestly, he wasn't anywhere near her.

He laid back onto the white ground and stared at the image until he was able to sleep. And when his eyes shut, he dreamed out her.

For now this was his happily ever after.
