Dick Grayson P.O.V
"Alright Christina," Bruce announced. "You've been on some patrols, but if you really want to help, you and Dick can go on a stakeout. I've heard rumours circulating about an attack on a nightclub in town. Go there and keep a lookout for any suspicious activity. If the attack happens, get in costume, call me, then stall them. Don't try and take them on by youselves. Got it?"
I rolled my eyes. "Yes Bruce," I told him. "We got it."
"Why can't I come?" Tim complained. "I never get to do the cool stuff."
Christina ruffled his hair. "It's a nightclub Tim," she reminded him. "You're not even old enough to go in."
Tim ducked away from her. "I've been doing this way longer than she has! I want to come!"
"Christina's right Tim," I told him. "Besides, don't you have an essay due tomorrow?"
Tim sighed. "Fine." He began to trudge back up the stairs to the mansion.
"Go get ready Dick!" Christina called, running up the stairs. "Meet me at the front door in 5 minutes!"
I waved at Bruce, grabbed my costume, and started up the stairs to get ready.
---- Timeskip to 5 minutes later-----
"Hurry up Christina!" I yelled up the stairs from the front door. "At this rate, we'll miss the attack altogether!"
"I'm coming!" she yelled back. "I'd like to see you try and walk in high-heeled boots!"
Moments later, she came into view at the top of the stairs. She looked amazing. She was wearing a deep blue cocktail dress and knee-high black high-heeled boots. She had the strap of a red leather bag slung across her body, and as she came down the stairs, I saw a pendant dangling near her collarbone that was silver and in the form of two birds: a raven (at least that's what it looked like) and an owl.
"Dick? Dick!" I realized she had been calling my name. "If you're done staring, can we leave?"
"Sorry," I muttered. "You just look really beautiful."
She sighed. "It's fine," she blew her bangs out of her face. "Just don't let me catch you again. I'm not going to be one of Dick Grayson's girlfriends of the month."
I opened my mouth, then closed it. I felt my cheeks grow warm. Eventually, I decided to shut up for the time being, and be glad that Tim hadn't seen that. He would've mocked me for weeks, like when he found out about my obsession from when I was younger with the word "whelmed". Man, that had been embarrassing.
Anyways, I followed Christina out to the car and slid into the driver's seat. I was mentally preparing myself for the awkwardness of the drive to the nightclub with Christina when she climbed into the passenger seat. I decided I should at least try and clear the air.
"Listen," I began. "About the staring at you-"
I cut myself off when she burst out laughing. I must have shown my confusion on my face.
"Dick," she managed between breaths. "I was joking. I knew you'd stare at me, everyone does. After a couple hundred years, you get used to it."
"Oh," I replied, still processing the information. "Wait, a couple hundred years?!"
She sighed. "I'll explain another time, I promise. Can we just go?"
I decided to let it go, so I simply turned away from her and drove.
