Steve groaned softly as he opened his eyes. His entire body ached, as if he had been ran over by at least five horses.

He looked around but of course it was too dark to see anything. He shifted around, moving his hands to feel his surroundings. But all he felt was something soft and smooth. 'Probably a bed' Steve thought to himself.

Suddenly he froze as he heard a door open. Pretending to still be asleep, he listened at Footsteps approached him. He felt the bedside dip as someone sat down beside his body.

Fingers ran through Steve's soft hair, and he heard someone chuckled. "One day.." The person whispered before planting a small kiss on Steve's forehead.

The person stood up and walked out. Right when Steve heard that door close, he sat up taking in a deep breath, realizing that he had been holding it the entire time.

His face was burning red and he lifted a hand and put it on the forehead where he had been kissed.

Soon enough the door clicked open again. "Ah, I was starting to worry you weren't going to wake up." Steve looked up and jumped out of the bed when he saw it was Herobrine.

But his body crumbled beneath him and he fell to the ground, a soft groan of pain escaping his lips. Herobrine sighed and went over to Steve, kneeling next to him.

Steve tensed up as he felt Herobrine lift him up in his arms. "Oh relax, I'm not going to hurt you.." Herobrine said as he laid Steve on the bed.

"You're in no condition to be on your feet right now.." Herobrine said. "Wh-Why not?" Steve asked. "Well.. The spell I used was very, very strong.. Your mind and well, you are awake, but parts of your body haven't caught up yet.." Herobrine said.

Steve shook his head. "I want to go home." He muttered. "You can't." Herobrine said, quite bluntly. "What?" Steve asked, turning his head to face Herobrine. "I won't let you go." Herobrine said. "Wh-Why not, you c-an't keep m-me here forever!" Steve stuttered out. "Ugh, you sound like my brother.." Herobrine muttered, sitting on the edge of the bed. "But I don't want to let you go, why would you even want to go back?" Herobrine asked.

"B-Because that's my home.. My entire life in the overworld.." Steve said. "Your existence in the overworld means nothing but a science experiment." Herobrine said. "What? No way.." Steve said. "I'm not just a science experiment.." He said, sounding a little hurt.

"Yes you are!" Herobrine suddenly snapped, making Steve flinch. "Notch made you to study you! He's trying to make the perfect human, he doesn't see you as a son.. Do you know how many files he has just stating all of your flaws?!" Herobrine yelled. Steve stayed silent.

Herobrine let out a long sigh to calm down. "It angers me to know that my brother sees you as that.." He said. "This is true?" Steve asked, his voice cracking. "Yes." Herobrine said, but getting no response from Steve.

Steve stared up at the ceiling, tears filling his eyes. "Th-This can't be true.." He said.

Herobrine shook his head before disappearing. A few moments later he reappeared, holding a small notebook and a small bit of his hair on fire. "Damn security system.." He muttered, punching out the fire before tossing the notebook to Steve. "Just read it." He said, slumping down in a nearby chair.

Steve used his remaining strength to sit up, flipping open the book.

His eyes traveled down the page.

"Entry/Day 6,570,
Human experiment #1- Or better know as Steven, has been alive in this world for approximately eighteen years, his smarts seem to be improving but he is still weak. His emotions will get in the way of initial goal, survival.

His new goal involves exploring the nether, I should've never told him about it, first the nether and then the end.. He could either die from my brother or the Ender Dragon.. And that's where my entire life's work goes down the drain!

I mentioned earlier that he was getting smarter, well in concepts he has not. He still hasn't found the three zombies I hid in his house.. Maybe I should let him venture into the nether and just start working on a new human. But they need to be flawless."

The last sentence hit Steve hard. Tears were streaming down his cheeks as he closed the notebook. "You're not going to read anymore?" Herobrine asked. Steve shook his head, bringing his knees but and burying his face in them. "And that was written only a week ago.." Steve muttered.

Herobrine felt sympathy for the mortal. He got out of his seat and sat on the bed, wrapping Steve in a hug, which he had never done to anything before.

But what really surprised him was when Steve leaned into him, almost sobbing into his chest.
