Chapter 6

I sat on the car waiting for her. I could see and listen to all she was going to say from there.

She walked confidently towards the boys and greeted them.

-          Hi – I could listen her say. She sat next to Jai.

-          Hello – they all said awkwardly. But quickly Beau sat next to her as well. I smirked. He’s such a flirt.

They talked a little laughing but I couldn’t hear all what they said. In a moment Jai saw me watching them but I didn’t mind, I mean, they were with my bestie so I could listen to them if I wanted to.

-          So who are you guys going to take to the prom? – asked Eve.

-          Why? – Jai asked in reply.

-          I don’t know… I thought you could take me – she blinked Jai. All the boys shouted and jumped in joy. Unless Jai. He turned red like a tomato and for a moment he looked at me.

Oh shit, he’s absolutely going to say yes. Shit.

Wait why am I saying “shit”? He means nothing to me and I hate him a little. He isn't like I thought he was when I went to his house but I don’t know.

But… Eve means a lot and he’s a cunt. Yeah, that’s it. I don’t want him to say yes because Jai’s a dickhead.

-          Ermm – said Jai. He looked at me quickly again -, I think I’ll say no, sorry – he answered Eve.

I smiled a little. Wow. He’s the very first boy who has rejected Eve.

Holy shit I’m such a bad friend. But to be honest I’m not that sorry for her.

She turned red and stood up.

-          Well someone better than you would prefer to go with me – she said aggressively. Then she walked towards me very upset and closed the car door before sitting -. He’s a cunt.

I had to repress laughing at her.

-          What are you fucking laughing at? – she screamed at me – He has rejected me and you’re my best friend. At least you should be sorry.

I shocked for a moment. This was the best opportunity to tell her how I feel.

-          Oh so, I’m a bad friend? AM I? – I screamed as well – I think the worst friend’s award goes to you, Eve, because I have always supported you and I have never meant nothing to you – she opened her mouth in order to talk but I interrupt her – I’m fucking fed up of you and your shit. I’m fed up of your boyfriends, his athletic qualities and his beauty. You only use me to talk about your boyfriends and cry on my shoulder when they broke up with you. I’m fucking fed up, Eve.

-          Really? You don’t seem to be a good friend when you laugh at me when someone rejects me – she replied.

-          Oh, sorry about that. Have you forgotten about every fucking day that we talk? I mean, you talk about your boyfriends when you know I have never made up with anyone neither have boyfriend and you just rub in me all your success with the boys. And you don’t take a shit on how I’m feeling about it – I was literally screaming too much -. And I remember according not taking a boy to the prom. That we’ll go together, you and me. And now you ask Jai to go. I think I fucking deserve you respect me.

-          You’re stupid Summer! You’re the worst friend ever, you’re shit! – she screamed – No one is going to love you if you’re like this and you’re so close to yourself. Don’t fucking blame on me that you’re alone because it’s because you want. Now get the fuck out of my car, bitch.

Bitch? Is this slut being serious? I got off the car aggressively and shut the door.

-          “BITCH”? I’M THE BITCH? – I laughed – I THINK YOU ARE THE SLUT BECAUSE EVERY WEEK YOU HAVE A NEW BOYFRIEND, DON’T YOU THINK? -  said while she was moving away with her car.

I turned around and shoot a bottle of Coke which was on the floor and sit on the pavement.

This bitch is fucking annoying, how could I be her friend?

I stood up and I realized I couldn’t go back home because I hadn’t got my car there. Perfect. I had to walk for half an hour and later on I had to dress up and stuff. Shit.

I started walking on my way to home.

-          Summer? – I heard someone call me on the back. I turned around and he was Jai. His friends were on his back, looking at me – Are you ok? We have listened you and your friend arguing.

-          She’s not my friend – I crossed my arms. He nodded.

-          Well, do you want us to take you home by car? – Jai asked.

I thought about it a little and nodded my head. I wasn’t in the mood to walk.

The boys said goodbye to James and Daniel and so did I. Jai, Luke and Beau guided me to their car.

I really thank them for this. I though they all were dickheads but they’re good guys, Gina was right. At first I used to hate them all but now I’m so grateful. And sincerely they’re also so funny and their happiness is contagious. To be honest I had a good time at Jai’s house, they like to tease me but I’m ok because I laugh anyway.

I have laughed and smiled more with them in about three hours than in the whole two years of high school that I have spent with Eve.

We got on the car with Summer. I sat on the back with her because she was so shy and I’m the one who she has more confidence with.

She looked so angry and she was looking through the window. I think she was about to burst out crying.

-          Do you know when we get the physics project mark? – she asked suddenly.

-          I don’t even know but I think we will know when they give us the final grades.

She nodded with her head and put her hair back. She continued looking through the window sadly.

I guided Beau in silence to Summer’s house. We weren’t talking because we wanted to respect her. When we arrived I whispered her name and she got up and thanked us for taking her home.
