Chapter 4
Jake
Since Flynn's parents were going out tonight and wouldn't be back until probably after midnight, Infinity was insisting that the five of us spend some time playing board games, watching movies, and pigging out on food.
Ever since they were finally free from that heinous group Death by Death, Infinity had been wanting us to spend as much time as we could together, so we usually had game/movie nights when her and Flynn's parents went out.
And since I worked at the cafe, I could easily get a lot of cookies, brownies, and donuts for a discount, which was what Flynn and I were doing before heading over. Flynn borrowed Infinity's car to drive us here while Infinity went to Logan to the grocery store to get some other snacks.
After I paid for the baked goods, Flynn and I went to leave the cafe right as Taylor walked in holding Newt's hand. Newt immediately smiled and waved at me. "Hi, Jakey!" Newt said.
"Hi," I said.
"I didn't know you were going to be here," Taylor said.
"Well, I do work here," I pointed out.
"Right, right."
"I mean, I'm not working now. My brother's girlfriend wants a game and movie night, so I decided to get some baked goods for a discount."
"Smart. The store I work at doesn't even give discounts."
"Well, that sucks."
"I know, right? I would have been able to save a lot more money on groceries and things for Newt. And speaking of this devil, I should get some food for him before he complains. But I'll see you around?"
"Yeah," I said before he took Newt to the lineup.
"Ooh, who was that?" Flynn asked.
"Oh, that's Taylor. He used to be in one of my classes before he had to withdraw to take care of his son."
Flynn frowned. "Aww, so he's not single?"
"No, he is," I said. "At least, I think he is. I just know his son's mom left him for Taylor to raise."
"Interesting. Very interesting...."
"What are you getting at?"
"Nothing, nothing," Flynn said. "Now come on, we better not take too long or else Infinity will get mad at us. She's really into all of the whole game and movie night thing."
Flynn and I went outside and into the car before he drove us to his house. We both really needed to get our own cars, but we couldn't even afford one.
By the time we got to his place, Infinity and Logan were back from the store and Lilly was there as well.
"Ooh, perfect timing," Infinity said when Flynn and I walked into the living room. "Logan and I found a new game at the store that I want to try."
"Correction, she found the new game and made me by it," Logan said. "I don't see the point of this game."
"It's to see how well we know each other," Infinity said as she began setting up the game. "So basically, if you land on the blue space, you pick up a card and ask that question about yourself and whoever gets it right moves forward three spaces. If you land on a yellow space, it's the same thing but instead, whoever gets it wrong must move back two spaces."
