Resurrecting the dead

The philosophers stone

 

Hermione gasped! After 10 solid years of solid research, lies and post war depression, she had done it. Done what nobody else had ever suceeded to do, including Dumbledore himself.

She had made a potion, which in conjunction with the resurection stone, could bring up to 3 people back from the dead...

During the year after the war, she had visited her vault at gringots, who weren't exactly pleased to see her after she robbed a high security vault and got away with it! In her vault, there was a single package with a note placed on top. The note read:

"Dear Miss Granger,
Use this wisely, i'm sure you can find out what it does. Keep it secret.
Yours, Professor Dumbledore"

And inside the little package was a red stone. She immediely recognised it as the philosophers stone, so re wrapped it and placed it in the bottom of her beaded bag so nobody would find it. She immedielty apparted home and got to work researching the philosophers stone.

Her work was secret; even her boyfriend Ron, who later became her husband didnt know what she was researching; he just believed she was finding a way to reverse the effects of the memory charm she had cast on her parents.

She eventually stumbled across an ancient believe that the Philosophers stone and the resurrection stone were linked, and by creating a potion from the philosophers stone, you could bring 3 people back to life via the resurrection stone, but unfortuenly destroying the resurrection stone forever.

She found the potion written in the back of the Beedle in the Bard book from Dumbledore, carefully hidden under layers of protection. She had only found this as she went to 'accio' the book so she could read it to her nearly one year old daughter rose, but it wouldn't move due to the heavy spells placed on it. After reading the potion, and finding it took over a year to brew, she set off alone to Australia to brew it with no disturbances, under the lie that she was going to hunt out her parents.

She did find her parents, but they appeared extremly happy, and had a new daughter called Rosie who was 8. She was hermione's little sister, but just knowing the little girl would never know her sister broke her down to tears.

She went back to the potion, determined to get it right as she only had one shot. And she had just finished it.

She poured the potion into 3 vials and placed them in a secure pouch around her neck. She then put the resurrection stone in her pocket; she had spent a month hunting it down in the forest. She immedietly apparted to a international apparation point, before apparating back to england.

She opened her eyes and landed in the sitting room of the Potter home in Godrics Hollow. Harry sat on the sofa with his youngest son Albus, who was nearly 2, and Ginny stood behind him playing with James, their eldest son. Hermione had heard from their letters that Ginny was a month pregnant with their 3rd child.

"Ginny, may i speak to Harry for a minute?" she asked quickly.

"You're back!" ginny exclaimed and ran over and hugged her, but Hermione pushed away.

"Gin, this is urgent, i need to speak to Harry alone please, it won't take long, then i will come and catch up with you in the kitchen!" hermione said, picking up Albus from Harry, handing him to Ginny and herding them out the door.

"Fine, be quick, i'm trusting that it is urgent!" Ginny huffed and walked away.

Hermione quicky put up silencing charms and locked the door.

She quickly explained to Harry what she had been doing for the past 10 years.

"You are telling me that i can resurrect 3 people and bring them back to life?" harry exclaimed!
"Yes, but they will come back at the age they would be if they hadnt died." she said.

"What do i do?" he asked.

"You have to use the ressurection stone to bring the person to the earth, then pour the potion over it to make them alive rather than reliant on the stone" she explained, handing him the stone and vials. "I am letting you choose who you want to bring back, but please be sensible, that potion had taken me years and i can't make it again"

Harry nodded, "Don't worry, i won't mess up my only chance of bringing someone back to life"

"Good luck" Hermione said, before unlocking the door, and leaving him to it.

He wrote down a list of people that he wanted to speak to before he destroyed the stone forever. He would decide who he wanted to save after.

Sirius,
Dumbledore,
Dobby,
Remus,
Tonks,
Fred,
Snape,
Regulus,
Alice,
Dad,
Mum.

He placed the vials on the table and picked up the stone.

"reversara" he whispered, a spell which allowed him to enter the place that wizards went after death, through the stone, and be completly invisble. He turned the stone 3 times in his hand then closed his eyes...

(hope you like it! its going to be a short story but over quite a few pages to seprate out his choice :) hope you like the intro, i will be evaluating bringing each character back in each of the following chapters :) please comment on who you would like to be saved!! (not that i will take it into consideration since i have allready chosen, but if you guess right as we go through the story, you can have the final chapter dedictaed to you!!
Just to let you know, this takes place 10 years after the war, so lily is not born, albus is 2 and james is 3 (ish). Harry is married to Ginny and everything is exactly how Rowling said it was! 'well' XD
