"Where?"
"Europe."
I finally caught his gaze. He didn't look impressed. "Where in Europe?"
Looking between us, his smirk just grew wider. "Paris."
----10 minutes earlier----
"You're going undercover."
Westbrooke rose to his feet, Tom, Ari and Nate following. Lykan and Jess remained seated.
"Undercover?" I asked as a small wave of various emotions swept over me. Excitement, anxiety, nerves.
"Yes. I'll explain later. Go get changed out of those clothes." Looking the full length of my body I suddenly felt self-conscious.
White Adidas Superstars, Black skinny jeans and a white NYC '98 shirt. "What's wrong with my clothes?"
"Calissa." James deadpanned.
Looking over at Jess and Lykan I gave a sigh, "fine." Rolling my eyes I swung the door on its hinges.
I watched as the door closed before making my way through the narrow corridors. Slowly I started to realise that I no longer recognised any of the corridors I was walking through. Not only did they look so similar, but they all ended at the same place, the main hallway, and I was travelling in the opposite direction. I got to a L shape, one I'd not come across before, I stoped.
Kody. He was speaking, to what sounded like Mel, although I couldn't be sure.
"You can get me over there?"
"Definitely. It's risky though Dakota, you should know that."
"I do. But if he's moved there, I wanna know why." The voices stopped for a few seconds, pulling my gaze around the corner.
Both heads were turned away from me, looking for something down the other end of the corridor before swiftly moving through a door behind Kody, not another word shared.
You can get me over there. I want to know why. If he's moved there. It's risky.
Seemingly every move made was risky in this business, but I knew the government were involved to a certain extent, and that eased my nerves slightly. But who's to say we can trust the government? It certainly seems like James wasn't too fond of the law.
Figuring I should stay involved in things only meant for my knowledge, I made my way back to James and Lykan. Completely ignoring the fact that I'd not changed my clothes. I knew it was just a reason to get me to leave.
Secrets were secrets for a reason.
As I rounded the corner his voice resonated through my head, "It's final, she may not be trained but she's good. It'll be fine, she's with Lykan. I trust him."
There was a laugh of disbelief almost, Jess. "Who said she'll be safe?"
"She is." James defended, "I'll do everything I can to keep it that way, for as long as I possibly can."
At least someone was looking out for me.
Footsteps grew increasingly heavier until they stopped. Boots. Black. Violet. Jess.
My eyes met hers before meeting the smirk pulling at her lips. She didn't say anything, which I was thankful for, she simply looked at me straight for a few seconds before walking past me, her steps resonating through the narrow corridors.
Inhaling, my chest rising and falling steadily, I rounded the corner.
"Perfect timing, I was beginning to think you'd left us." James laughed, his eyes almost shining like they used to. I was afraid I'd never see that familiar glow, not after what he's seen.
