~Chapter 2~
The walk home was very pleasant. There was a slight summer breeze. Birds were chirping in the trees and from above me. There were faint noises of children running around with their friends.
Oh how I longed for those days. When I had no care in the world, nothing could stop me. But when I grew older my troubles came. My dad died in a car accident, there was middle school drama, and my friends except for one, Lillian, left me for their boyfriends and said they wanted to be what they call 'popular'. It was pathetic.
I was daydreaming my whole stroll home. All of a sudden I heard a car honking and came back to the world. I twisted my head to the left and noticed that I was in the middle of the street and a silver Nissan Altima was headed towards me. I was in shock, I couldn't move.
I was stuck there, in the middle of the street staring straight ahead, ready for the impact. I then felt a muscular body wrap around me and push me to the side of the road. The car nearly touched him. It missed by just a few inches.
I was suddenly all dizzy. The last thing that I made out was a handsome face. A face that I've seen before, but I don't know exactly where. The next thing I knew I blacked out.

There was a pounding in my head that I definitely did not enjoy. I opened my eyes and noticed a handsome looking guy in front of me. I blinked multiple times to just make sure that I wasn't imagining him.
I was now in my room. I rubbed my forehead trying to make the pain go away. The blanket was pulled up to my shoulders. The window curtain was closed but some sunlight still seeped into the room. The light blinded me and caused me to squint. I sat up while stretching my arms and yawning.
A smile appeared on his face when he saw that I was awake. He stood up and sat on my bed.
"Are you okay, Natalie?" His voice was relaxing, his eyes were full of relief.
I opened my mouth to speak, everything came out shaky. " H-how do y-you know my na-name?" I don't think I've ever seen him before. I couldn't remember anything that happened after I left the woods.
"I've seen you around school before. Plus you're in my FCS (Family Consumer Science) class." he added with a little grin. I shook my head, trying to remember. "I haven't properly introduced myself. I am Jacob Reed. But you may call me Jacob the Great." I let out a little chuckle.
"Oh well... thanks., Jacob. Can I ask you a question?" He smiled again and nodded. "Um, how exactly did I get here? And what happened? Why does my head hurt?"
His sweet smile disappeared and seriousness crossed his face. "Natalie, you almost got hit by a truck. Luckily, I was there to save you." His cocky grin once again, appeared on his face. His sea blue, slightly sea blue eyes sparkled. I couldn't exactly tell because of the lighting in the room. He was just the perfect image. But I couldn't let him know I liked him.
I was never the type of girl to tell someone I had a crush on them. I have almost a few times, Lillian talked me into it, but I would always chicken out at the last second. She was the type of girl who was outgoing, and never hesitated about anything. Every guy in the school would drool or have their mouth agape when she walked through the halls. Lets say she's the Drama Queen with good looks, but minus the bitchiness attitude. Even though she can be a total bitch when she wants to be. That's why we get along so well.
"I didn't need any saving." He raised his right eyebrow. "O-okay... maybe I did, but still." He let his head drop. His chest raised and fell as he chuckled to himself. A cute smile was plastered on his gorgeous face. "What did I do? Are you laughing at me!? Stop it!"
I grabbed the pillow behind me and started whacking him with it. It made a little 'thumb' noise once it hit him. He raised his head in surprise. Jacob raised his hand and placed it on his chest. He gasped as if to say he was hurt. His smile turned into a mischievous, devilish one. "Challenge excepted," were the only words that left his lips. Jacob crossed his arms infront of his face for defense.
I kicked the blanket off of me and got on my knees. I stuck out my tongue trying to hit him where his arms weren't covering. He got up, off of the bed. And so did I, to continue hitting him. He grabbed the pillow that I was whacking him with. I just stood there in shock. Shock that he took it away from me.
I tempted a puppy dog face. Which failed completely. Jacob let out a little, light chuckle. It looked like he was going to give me a hug. But I was wrong. He stepped closer with his arms wide. At the last second he moved his arms and picked me up bridal style. He lifted me up, off the ground. I started kicking the air and swinging my arms like a maniac. My right arm hit him straight in the face. I started giggling. As a result he dropped me on my bed... face first.
How he did that. He threw me up into the air and twisted his wrists so I would spin. Trust me. It was very painful... well not painful. But scary. Well... it was like one of those roller coasters that you're scared of at first but then want to go on again after it was over.
I rolled around so I was now on my back. I was holding my stomach trying to sustain my laughter. He walked slowly toward me. Maybe he was walking normal pace, maybe the world just wanted to play it in slow-mo.
Our eyes locked. I was staring into his blue eyes. He slowly leaned in and I slowly lifted myself up with my elbows. It felt like minutes before his face was inches from mine. Just as our lips were about to lock I heard a door open then close. He sighed and took a few steps backwards. My mom wasn't home before? How did he get into my house then?
