Aidan
I took a tiny step back with my hand freeing itself from its hold around Zayden's. Fear rose up my throat but I maintained mutual facial expressions. I desperately wanted to grab Asher and run out the room because of the rising fear, but stayed planted on the spot since I didn't want to leave my brother behind.
Once those words spewed from my nephew's mouth, I had no idea what to do so I observed what Asher did next. His hand was hovering above Zayden's forehead and he inhaled slowly before placing his palm flat down while releasing an exhale.
If I had ultra vision, then I could see exactly where my older brother's energy merged into Zayden's body and how slowly their heartbeats synced together. It was definitely a beauty to admire and to see how tranquil and limp Zayden became immediately was just how fascinating the strong bond between a parent and his child can be.
"I think he's calm now." Asher mumbled with all his attention still on his son's blank eyes. "I have a feeling that when he gets triggered by something, then there comes an episode." He then glanced up at me with hopeful brown eyes. I offered a small smile but when he glanced back down, my smile fell. What if there's no rightful cure to this?
My thoughts then moved to mother and how Asher had told me about her body being possessed. Possessed by the older sister that I don't have any recollection of. Anabelle was deemed a split image of the devil and I felt grateful for never getting the chance of meeting her.
I snapped out of my thoughts when Asher stood then released a deep sigh. He was looking down at his son in depression. His hair had clearly been ran through with fingers too many times to count, but through it all, his attire and stance were left unwrinkled. He still had hope and carried confidence wherever he went.
"Would you want me to tell Violet that you're down here starting the therapy?" I asked out of curiosity since the silence in the room was suffocating in the presence of a vampire-possessed Shadow.
"No, she's still sleeping, but I think baby steps a day would make great progress." He then looked at me and nodded towards the door. I followed his trail outside then turned to him. My height was almost paired with his full frame.
"God damn, how long have I been missing from your life? I feel like you've grown seven inches since I last had a decent conversation with you." He exclaimed and proceeded to examine how much of a man I have grown to be. "You're six foot now; a few more inches and you'll match my height." He stated with his head shaking.
An arm was wrapped around my shoulder and he pulled me closer. This embrace reminded me just how much I've missed these close encounters with him.
"How about we go training? I think I need to vent some anger into my blade." He said then guided us to the training room soon after I nodded in agreement. I was fueled and ready for a battle with my brother. Nothing beats a good fight against the king.
I approached my station and grabbed my personally made sword from its stand with my left hand. I looked at Asher from the corner of my eye and saw him grabbing the hilt of his sword with his left hand as well.
I swung around a couple times and stretched the biceps while flicking my wrist from side to side. After days and days of not practicing, I felt stiff, so I stretched a few more times before walking to the center of the room where Asher stood cleaning his blade.
"Ready?" He challenged with eyes that were hungry for a decent fight. I chuckled at his question.
"I'm always ready, brother." I smirked and he raised his eyebrows with a sly smile. He shuffled on his feet before getting into position. We began walking around in a circle at the same time. I studied his heartbeat and his stance, but nothing gave it away. His heart was steady and there was no sweat lined across his forehead.
I wasted no more time then drew my fangs down as I lunged toward him with full force. Our swords clashed together when they met. I had pushed far enough so the blades were close to touching his shoulder. He grunted once and pushed me back. I backtracked a couple steps but remained a strong recovery position.
His fangs barred down hard against his bottom teeth. His eyes were dark orbs that thirst for bloodshed, but as long as I kept a distance from him, then this would just result in a bloodless fight even though he wanted pain.
We both took a stride forth and swung at the same time. Back and forth, the metallic blades smashed into one another vibrating powerful waves into the wall.
I blocked a hit that intended to slice between my shoulders but I lurked backwards last minute. Unfortunately, my button up shirt had caught the tip of his sword and ripped in a clean cut. I huffed in frustration when I glared down at the shirt that revealed my well-defined chest. My head tilted to the side. I ran a tongue across the front of my teeth and let out a low chuckle.
"You just ruined one of my favorite shirts. Now you're asking for it." I growled and I could feel my eyes igniting flames and my nose flaring. I lunged after him. He blocked my blows in defense but I took one step forward at a time every time I threw a hit at him.
We were nearing the back corner of the room and I knew I had him and that he would surrender soon, but when my sword swung straight at the left side of his torso, his blade entwined with him and he threw my sword to the side with a single flick of a wrist.
I groaned in frustration as my sword clattered several feet along the floor. His face screamed of satisfaction so he pinned his sword on the floor and leaned his weight on it with an amused expression as he expected me to retrieve my own weapon. Before doing so, I kicked a foot out and knocked the sword from under him and he stumbled forward.
I left out a loud laugh when he gave me a death glare then I rolled his eyes at his silliness. Surely, he could've seen that one coming.
"I will get you back." He announced over his shoulder when he walked back to his stand. I followed him with a smirk. Oh how much I've missed messing with my brother.
A/N:
Hello hello!! Welcome back, bookworms!!
How have you all been? I've been well, thanks hehe. I've been super busy but I still manage to squeeze a chapter in and that makes me feel very good about myself. It only means that I'm managing my time well, but STILL! lol
I hope you have been enjoying these updates recently. I'm trying to keep it consistent and no leave you all hanging for weeks. That was terrible of me. But besides that, I hope you enjoy this chapter in Aidan's perspective. I thought I'd change it up a bit and add some excitement.
But anyways, many thanks for 11k votes on Bloody Kiss and 4k reads on this novel. It really motivates me to write more and I enjoy doing so anyway. :)
Have a wonderful day/ night!! And until next time, take care of yourself. I love you all.
~Jade xoxo
