"Taran! Look at your state!" Bunny went up to him and clutched his arm and sat him down.

"What on earth happened Taran?" I asked him as his swollen red eyes failed to meet mine.

His hands were smothered in blood under the dimly appreciated bar lights that hung down low from the ceiling, surrounding the bean bags we were sat on.

Glass seemed to have pricked his contracted skin as he held a liquor bottle in his hand.

He tore the buttons off his blazer and opened it up to take out a bunch of papers tied with an elastic band.

Court papers.

I grabbed them from his hand, still not taking my gaze off his avatar.

I unfolded the papers hurriedly and read with shock.

The parties were lawfully married in November 2012. Difficulties have occurred between these two parties and they have agreed to live separate and apart. The parties nevertheless desire to resolve certain issues, and consequently have entered into this agreement.

Divorce.

"What the heck? You can't do this Taran!" I shouted at him, flinging the papers out of my hand and tossing them at the floor.

Taran just seemed dazed off, his heart shattered into a million pieces so he could no longer understand and analyze the emotions others were feeling around him. He had lost the ability to love; to hope.

I felt tears in my eyes.

"And Aditi..... what about Aditi!?" I asked him, shaking his arm slightly which still did not distract him.

"How can you just make this decision so quickly, I mean - if you have a small fall out that doesn't mean you go off to the court complaining about your legal wife I mean what the hell!?"

My long preaches dozed him off more.

"You've had too much booze. Stop drinking and do something with your life otherwise you'll become like AVI!"

I stopped, realizing what I had just said.

I had insulted my best friend Avi.

"I mean..... I ...."

"No. You're right." Taran's hollow voice finally strummed in the chords of my emotional voice.

"What do you mean?"

"A drunkard can only influence the others around him with the spirit in him."

I stared at him in confusion.

"A drunkard knows. He knows everything. How to turn a man's heart black; how to break a house apart and how to steal relationships with the effect of his booze."

"Taran talk straight. What bad has Avi ever done to you?" I shouted.

"I AM TALKING STRAIGHT DAMMIT." He thrust himself up and smashed his hands against the table. His screaming voice made everyone uncomfortable.

"Taran - people are watching us....."

"I don't care."

"Yes you do."

"I don't care about people anymore, what good have they done to me? Nothing? Let it be, it's not for the trusting to believe."

The guy who had once been jolly, innocent, non-alcoholic has suddenly turned into a drunk, abuser and relation breaker.

"Bunny -" I turned round to find him but he was nowhere to be seen.

"I'm calling Aditi." I got my phone out quickly but Taran knocked it out of my hands so it landed on the floor.

"Whose mouth do you want to hear the truth from?"

"Yours." I asked him, lowering down the phone I picked up.

He made eye contact with me and gave me a solemn look.

"This has been going on for a long time. Every time Aditi visits Avi's house she comes back drunk. Every single night I told him I had a surprise he drags her with him to his house and purposely tries to booze her so my surprise gets cancelled. Moreover on the top that, last night she came drunk and expressed her feelings in her drunk state: how much she wanted to spend the night with Avi. The fuck is that? My parents were home, we had guests - what is left of our reputation?"

Silence blew in through the gap between us.

"Now you tell me Naina...." he got my arms and shook them. I cringed in pain.

"Look what he did to that woman! He is so disrespectful! Hey - why did you do that?" A guy sitting at the bar shouted at him.

Taran just loosened his tie and smacked him in the face.

"Everybody, please leave him, just give us some space guys, I'm sorry to ruin your evening but please understand. Thanks. Thank you all for the cooperation."

I guarded him while everyone left us in private in the bar.

The lights dimmed.

We were stood facing each other on opposite sides.

It took courage for a man to cry, and Taran could not let them out.

"Is this why you called me here?"

"Yes."

"I'm sorry Taran but - if you have a problem with Avi and Aditi's friendship then I won't be of any use because the only thing I will say is - the truth is bitter and the truth is that - Aditi always loved Avi, right from the start. Avi had always adored her but she fancied you and he gave his biggest sacrifice ever just for her, and you. You should be in debt to Avi for what he did otherwise......" my voice trailed off, becoming sore.

I flicked my hair and turned to go, my heart still throbbing in pain and bewilderedness at the earlier incidents.

Bunny was definitely at Aditi's house; I was going there too.

I wondered what state she must be in.
