You reached the castle moments before the morning light began seeping in your window. For a moment the light caught the side of Marcelines face temporarily lighting up her mischievous features..... Then her face started melting.
"OOwww! Hissssss" Marceline darted to the darkest corner of the room as her face rapidly healed, her long dark locks cloaking her like a blanket. You jumped up and quickly closed the curtains darkening the room considerably. Once you were sure no light was infiltrating the room you turned to the smoking vampire in the corner. Not smoking hot (though she totally is). She was LITERALLY smoking.
"woah are you okay! your face it was burning! what was that about!" you crouched next to her unable to see through the curtain of black hair in between the two of you.
"Gotcha" Marceline flipped her hair back revealing a very intact (and beautiful) face.
without warning you.... punched her in the shoulder.
"what the hell was that you, you were hurt, or I thought you were. no! you were hurt! im sure of that! so, how are you. fine?" you rambled your voice fluctuating with each sentence.
"Woah chill princess. Healing powers. I am virtually un-killable." She grinned pointing at her now intact face.
"Whatever Deadpool." You groan and stroll to the door. "I'll escort you to your room." marceline gets up and follows you floating a little above the ground to the point where if you hadn't payed attention it would appear she was actually walking.
"You know who Deadpool is?" Marceline raised an eyebrow. she was probing, again.
"You mean marvels only interesting character and the most well written antihero? Yeah of course I know who he is. " you scoff.
"huh. it almost sounds like you've seen the movie even though it came out long before the mushroom war. " she looks at you with a curious smile.... she ran into a wall. you had turned and she hit the dead end. you couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"'very funny princess, do you always mock a persons pain?" she groans dusting her jeans off.
"that depends, are you always this clumsy?" you giggle trying to catch your breath.
"Only when I'm in the presence of someone so distracting." she leans forward and speaks in a whisper. nose to nose with her your breath catches and you feel yourself begin to blush. "boop." her index finger gently pushed against the tip of your nose
rolling your eyes you open the door to marcelines room. "ill see you at breakfast then?"
"wouldn't miss it princess." marceline called as you walked back to your room. you realized then that you were still in your (fc) night gown. returning to your room you quickly disrobe and get into a simple yet elegant (fc) dress. unlike your party dress the fabric was soft and breathable. after styling your hair you exited the room to find Finn waiting outside your door.
"good morning princess. im supposed to escort you to the dining room for breakfast." fin bowed he was a strange boy. it was almost like the shows writers gave up on trying to make him interesting.
you nod and follow him to the dining hall which was filled with noise and princesses mostly noise. laughter, conversation, the clattering of dishes, those annoying people that chew loudly. it was full of life and food once more. marceline of course was waiting by the door. (what do you expect a fanfic is fueled by witty dialogue unlike the Star Trek episode im on right now)
"hey princess how'd you sleep?" marceline said acting like she was seeing you for the first time today.
"not at all thanks to you marceline." you hiss through your teeth once you were out of Finns earshot.
"if things go well we could have a lot of sleepless nights together." she taunted. you felt your face heat up in an embarrassing blush. just when you were about to tell her off you were interrupted by none other than the princess of candy known as bonnibel.
"ill just go drink some color.... over there...wayyy over there." marceline drawled as she slowly floated backward. leaving you alone. with bonnibel. great.
"sorry if marcy was bothering you. in her eternal youth she can be a bit... pushy." bubble gum stated there was definitely a long bloody history between those two. you weren't really interested in learning about it. but you were interested in a possible trade between the two kingdoms. so you humored her. even had some good conversation on stars and how to perhaps create them synthetically. good god you hope she only thought about it theoretically.
after a while the rest of the guests returned home to their respective kingdoms which you fully intend to visit in days to come. all except marceline for some bizarre reason she stuck around. (okay she's sticking around because plot convenience sue me.)
"aren't you going home?" you asked her as she loafed about in your room.
"when I feel like it. why? am I bothering you princess?" she grinned at your attempt to remain polite and professional. she sure did like to push buttons.
"well yes. in all my years I've never met someone quite as infuriating as you." you groan as you put toothpaste on your brush.
"exactly how many years has that been anyway?" she almost seemed to appear out of nowhere causing you to jump.
"none of your business vampire." you mumble through your toothbrush.
"if you want me to leave so much why don't you just take me home yourself?" marceline replied with a cheeky wink.
you spit out the tooth paste and rinse your mouth. "and why would I want to do that?"
"because we would actually be alone. away from the guards, representatives, and the cameras. wouldn't it be nice to get away?"
"why do you really want me to go."
"honestly? I want to get to know you. the real you. not you the ruler of mankind. you. can I have that chance?"
