On cloud nine and suddenly

I'm afraid to give you my all, I'm afraid to love you completely. What if behind your beautiful face and kind words you are just bribing me. Maybe you are just reeling me in until you turn around and drop me. I'd fall so far and never be able to recover, I wish I could see the ending sometimes. I would know if I should hold on to you and keep going or just let it all end before I get up too high.

Prologue

I rolled the basketball around on my hands, a habit of mine when I am trying to think. My brain drawed up a blank, I had to choose. I, Brad Cooper had to choose between my best friend and the love of my life. I never planned for this to happen, my thoughts wondered to that night.

FLASHBACK

Jamie's brown hair fell loose as she took out her hair tie, I watched as she sauntered over to me. My head felt clear and I began moving towards her, my best friend, the one person that made me feel safe and secure.

She tripped, cursing and falling towards me. I grabbed her in one swift move, her eyes met mine and I leaned forward; my lips meeting hers. Everything in my head disappeared and all I could feel was her hands in my hair and my lips on hers.

We were both well known players at our school, that was why we were best friends. I still remember when we first met in middle school, we used to hate each other until she helped me out and stopped me from getting expelled.

We were rushing everything, before I knew it we were on her bed without our clothes. Somehow at the back of our minds we knew that if we snapped out of this lust trance we would never come back to where we are now.

END OF FLASHBACK

It's been a week since it happened, we haven't spoken about it until today. We acted normal like nothing ever happened and that's exactly what I wanted. I loved my girlfriend Tiana, and she told me a big news yesterday. She was pregnant. I was happy and all I wanted was to forget that drunken mistake but fate had other plans.

Jamie called me today telling me that she was pregnant and it was my choice whether I wanted to be his dad or not. If I didn't it really didn't matter to her; at least that was what she said.

But how can I leave my best friend when she needs me the most?

Truth is, it's the other way around, I don't want her to be out of my life.

If my family found out I was the father of two babies from two different women, I wouldn't get the company. I can't risk that, and since they already know Tiana is pregnant I can't choose Jamie even if I was in love with her.

I sent the last text i would ever send to Jamie and deleted her phone number. I would still support her, I will send her money but I can't be with her.

I adjust my fake glasses and sling my backpack around my shoulder and I make a run for the exit hoping that no one had seen me. I dont need to go to jail again for working underaged.
