"Thank you Orion for showing me around." We returned from the school building to the front of the dorms.
"No problem." He said continuing to look up.
"Huh? Who's is that?" I stopped at the ladder, behind it was a dorm room. The ladder led to an open space, you couldn't anything past that.
"Her name's Aquamarine." His eyes went dark and cold. "She's... She's the only kid in this school that can use her magic so well she can leave." He answered.
"Really? She must be super cool." I thought about it. I wonder if her eyes are aquamarine?
"Thank you, really." I watched a female walk up to us, she looked older and smart. Her hair was a majestic aquamarine and the aura around her flaunted it. "What's your name?" She asked me and my jaw practically dropped.
"L-L-Lae La-Larkin." I stuttered, it was so embarrassing!
"Lae... that's a nice name. Oh, is it alright for me to call you just Lae?" She asked, I almost got dizzy because of how much mature she was than I. It was actually somewhat suspicious to me, but everyone's different.
"Of course. Is it alright to call you Aquamarine?" I asked as well, if she were to ask it only made sense for me to ask the same. To be polite.
"Yes yes." She paused. "Orion, I see you haven't changed." She smiled at him, somewhat an icy smile.
"Whatever." He clicked his tongue and started for the stairs.
"W-well I suppose I'd better go. Talk to you later Aquamarine." I waved and went to catch up with Orion.
"Of course, see you." She waved back and started for the ladder. I turned around briefly due to bad habit, but I seen her smile, it was somehow... menacing...
"Orion, did you know her?" I asked after catching up.
"Yeah, so?" His tone was rough.
"Just asking. She seems like a nice person." I clasped my hands together behind my back.
"Ha, right." Orion said sarcastically and I nudged him in the shoulder before opening my room door.
"Don't be sarcastic with me." I stuck my tongue out at him. After closing the door I hurriedly grabbed my notebook to begin my ideas of our birthday party. My determination to make Orion smile grew stronger as I thought of our recent conversation. I had about a week until it was May 9th so I'd better get started on my preparations now.
"Good morning Orion!" I knocked at his door lightly, I had on my uniform proudly. He opened the door groggily, hair still messy as if he just got out of bed.
"What?" He looked down at me.
"Oh, um. I thought we could go to class together." I pressed my fingertips together out of nervousness. He didn't look like he wanted to go to class.
"Sure. I'll get ready, wait for me." He slowly closed the door as he spoke.
"Okay." He closed the door and within seconds he opened ready to go. "Woah! How'd you do that so fast?" His speed amazed me.
"Transfer magic." He answered and pulled out a bit of dust. "I still have some here if you want it." I nodded and he rubbed it off into my hands. I hurriedly put it in a jar, and locked my door so we could get to class together on time.
"How does it work?" I asked, some of the purple dust still on my fingertips.
"Like this." He grabbed my hands tightly, whispered something, and next thing I knew we were by the school lockers.
"Woah! That's awesome, like teleportation!" I let my excitement get the best of me.
"Yeah, but it's pretty basic once you get the hang of it." We changed our shoes in the locker and headed for the school stairs.
"It's easy..?" I questioned, it looked easy but not everything is easy as it seems. At least I know that much from learning the hard way.
"Here, follow me. We both have a bit so don't waste it." We ran up to the top floor but the door we ran to was locked. Orion took my hands in his and did the same spell he cast and we were on the other side of the door, the rooftop. "Ready for our lesson?" He sat down on the ground and dragged me along.
"Ready as you are." He sprinkled the dust from his hand to mine.
"Okay. Hold the dust tightly, and whisper the place you want to go but also imagine it. It's simple as long as you have the mana." I followed after him until he said mana.
"Mana? What is mana?" I asked, I've never heard about it before.
"Basically something we need to do magic. We practice in classes to make it stronger." Orion was about to let go of my hands but when I blurted "class" that's exactly where we teleported to.
"Huh, looks like you really wanted to learn about mana." Orion's widened eyes slowly relaxed, and he led me into the classroom. There were two empty seats next to each other by the window.
"Good morning." The teacher walked in boldly.
"Good morning." The class said back to him, he pulled out a large book and it flipped to a specific page on its own.
"Looks like we're on page 342 today. If you have a copy of that page read along and if you don't use a textbook in the back and do self practice." The teacher said, few pulled out pieces of paper while many took out different items. Looks like I found out how the school would function pretty fast.
