I'm running away! I'm running away. Why isn't it as exhilarating as I imagined? I have only ran two measly blocks and no thrill has come from it. At all. No rush of adrenaline. Nothing. Just a cold shiver down my spine of the consequences. So this is running away? How foolish I was to think that I would get far, let alone without getting caught.
This was crap. Plopping down at a curb I look to my left. A figure is approaching in the distance. My heart is racing. My mind is scrambling for an excuse. I literally am shaking from my blonde curls to my ripped up sneakers. As the figure approaches I can make out a face. Dark piercing eyes, jet black hair, and tattoos that seeped through his white v-neck.
Calum Hood.
My heart dropped right onto the blazing, paved road. My mind was racing. How could he? How did he? What does he?
My feet moved before my mind could catch up. It didn't matter though because I had to away from there. And fast. I couldn't stick around. Not after what happened last time. Taking off in a dead run, I didn't dare look back. "Jamie!! Wait up!!" I could hear feet coming up behind me and I pushed myself to go faster. He was faster than me and I knew that, but there was that possibility that he could trip or I could reach a safe place. Crazy I know, but I had no choice but to think of those possibilities.
After I had thought after I lost him between my sharp turns and my winding path, but I was wrong when I felt five, long fingers wrap around my arm and jolt me backwards. I should just slap him and run to Ms. Nacy's (my foster home). It's only about two or three blocks away. But instead I come up with the genius plan to mouth him off. "What could you possibly want Calum? To humiliate me again? Go away!" I held it together for once. My voice was more confident than I felt. He stopped dead in his tracks, probably from my words. Or maybe that's just what I wanted to think. "You wanna know what I want? Really? Okay well...I want you."
"That's crap and you know it! Don't try to talk to me about what you want because look where that's got us! A place where I hate you and I'm insecure about letting anyone get close to me! So take a look around. Look at what you caused! Just leave me alone please." Hot tears trickle down my cheek. When did I start crying? Whenever it was, I was now breaking down in a full sob. Get out of here, was my first thought because who knows what crap Calum will give me for crying at a time like this. Run just run and don't dare to look back.
And I did just that.
