Setting: about a month from the last chapter...

(Annie's p.o.v.)

The closest thing we could get to was a train; Winter, or...no...Bucky? No...not yet...Mr. Barnes; yes, Mr. Barnes' motorcycle ran out of gas and we had to leave it behind. It's taking a lot longer than originally expected, what with the bike now useless and us having no money. I knocked out the security cameras of a store yesterday, controlled people's blood so they couldn't move and meanwhile he got the easier job of robbing the place for food and clothes. He only took a bag of bread, some bags of chips and a few other easy access foods that didn't require actual cooking. Not knowing my size, he just grabbed me all men's stuff, shirt, pants, and shoes.

Yea, cause a pregnant woman walking around with no bra on is a great idea-sarcasm-I managed to grab a bag of medical bandages before he grabbed me by the wrist in a rush to get out of there. I spent last night binding my chest and slipping into the men's clothes and then eating at least half of the food. Neither one of us complained, I noticed that he doesn't eat much; normally I don't either, but I'm not currently eating for one right now. We've made it St. Petersburg from where ever the hell we were, but the train we need is in Moscow and that's five days and twenty-two minute walk from where we are. We've been taking up residence on the floors of abandoned buildings from the moment the sun is gone in the skies to the dawns first light.

Not very comfortable when you're pregnant, but it's the best we've got while trying to keep a low profile; at night he stays far enough way that I have my space, but close enough that I know I'm not alone and during the day: he's right by my side, not letting me too far out of his sight. He doesn't really talk much and hasn't since our time in the woods; I'm physically mute, which means it's up to him to break the silence. Which sucks, cause he probably won't anytime soon...

"RED!" His voice snaps pulling me out of my thoughts as I feel him pull me backwards by the arm

"..." I stare at him completely oblivious

"You have to pay more attention!" He snaps, "that car could've hit!"

"..." I flinch slightly at his shouting and simply nod in understand

"We still have about two and half days till we reach Moscow," he says in a more quiet tone as he looks around at the Russian road signs-I don't know Russian, I barely understand some of the English language, and I'm American, "we'll camp here for now and start walking at first light like usual."

"..." I simply nod

"Sorry for making my walk so much Red; I know you're probably tired," he says, "but it's about all we can do without bring too much attention to ourselves."

I give a faint smile and nod knowingly as I slowly sit myself down; I know I'll regret it later when I can't get back up, but right now...right now I don't give two shits because I'm tired and hungry. Taking in the surroundings of the abandoned building we've found to stay the night in, I notice it's mostly wood walls and floors. There's bugs everywhere along with dead rodent skeletons and something growing in the corners- probably mold or mildew or something like that. There really isn't much in here to be honest, and it's definitely not the best place to stay, but it's only for one night. In all honesty, it's actually not the worst place I've slept in; no, the worst place was definitely the abandoned toy shop we stayed in a few nights ago.

Now that creeped the shit out of me; you couldn't walk anywhere without accidentally setting something off, I almost murdered a dummy when it fell out of the closet onto me while I was exploring and Winter tripped over an old doll that made us both jump at least fifty feet in the air when it cried out 'Mama.' Whatever happened in that place, people were clearly in a rush to get out of there for one reason or another and left it a huge mess in their wake...
