HADLEY'S POV
Something wet suddenly drips onto my nose and I slowly open my eyes. My eyes focus on the sky and see dark clouds rolling over. I yawn as I feel Dylan's arm underneath me. I glance over and see him still snoozing next to me, his face buried in my side. I slowly sit up without waking him up and a few more raindrops splash onto me. I laugh at how he was still sleeping when there were raindrops pelting him and he stirs in his sleep.
I bend down and kiss him on the cheek, a smile spreading across his lips. I adjust my t-shirt from how twisted up it was and he opens his eyes as a raindrop plops onto his forehead.
"Good morning," he sits up and wraps me into a kiss. I squeeze his face as he kisses me over and over again while the rain begins to get heavier.
"We better head inside," I say through a kiss and he chuckles.
"Why not stay out here? It's warm enough," he pulls away grinning and I laugh.
"You're crazy," I laugh as he pulls me up and we begin to dance through the rain. We jump around the beach and he holds onto me with both hands. We stick our arms out like we were ball dancing except we went faster. And the rain was our music. I look into his eyes and they were as blue as the rain itself. His usually auburn hair was turned a dark brown and slicked back and his shorts were soaked through. We both laugh as we spin around the beach and glide over the sand. I glanced and saw the footprints we left, they were scattered all across the beach.
"I think I love you," he suddenly says and I smile softly.
"Okay, now I think you're getting better at picking your moments," I joke and he stops dancing.
"So, you--" I kiss him while he tries to speak and he pulls away stunned.
"I think I love you too," I suddenly say and he laughs, picking me back up to dance. We spin around and around in the rain as my hair flies through the air and my feet spring across the sand. We dance with a new found energy. It was almost like we were floating, and I didn't want it to stop. I laugh as he sticks his tongue out and spins me outwards and then back into his arms.
"You got some moves," I compliment him and he laughs.
"Well you have to when your an investors son," he jokes and I kiss him on the nose.
"I wish you didn't have to go," I say quietly and he smiles down at me, softly moving the hair out of the way of my eyes. His eyes lit up as he looked at me and we stopped dancing. He looks around and then let's go of me, running to the shore for something.
He returns with a flower in his hand and he pulls me closer with the other. He pushes my hair back and places the flower behind my ear. I smile up at him and look into his intense blue eyes. And they stared right back at me. Dylan smiles down at me as we dance slowly now. The rain pattered across the sand in perfect rhythm. I rest my head against his chest and we sway to the beat of the ocean and rain.
"I will always love you," Dylan says into my hair and I smile against his chest.
"And I will always return the love that you give," I reply without hesitation. I meant every word that I said when I was with him, besides the sarcasm and everything. So I stand on my tip toes and slide my lips over his to show how much I meant it. He responds with his lips and holds my face in his hands. His lips were warm and silky against mine as I ran my fingers through his hair. Rain soaks through our kiss and our lips begin to wet from the rainwater and a bit of saliva. He finally pulls away with and looks down at the watch on his wrist.
I frown as I see the look on his face.
It was time for him to go.
"You'll come with me to say goodbye won't you?" he asks me hopefully and I nod.
"I will be with you until the last moment. Until you absolutely have to go," I whisper and he kisses me again. I pull away smiling softly and he rubs his thumbs across my cheeks softly.
"I don't know how I'll survive without those green eyes in my face every day," he jokes and I lightly punch him in the arm as we walk towards the shore hand in hand.
"I don't know how I'll survive without those pretty blues to look at every day," I return the joke and he laughs lightly. He unlocks his hand from mine and wraps it around my shoulders. I wrap mine around his waist as we hit the grass and I lean my head against his shoulder.
"I'll write letters, and text you every day, and we can facetime every other day, and I'll visit as much as humanly possible, and I will never ever forget you. I promise to do all these things, Hadley. I promise with my life and heart. And while I'm gone, don't ever doubt that I love you," He says seriously and I look up at him concerned.
"Why would I--" I try to ask but he interrupts me.
"Just don't even dare. I love you with all my heart. And never ever ever doubt. Just, never," he kisses my forehead and I laugh.
"Where did this come from?" I ask him and he shrugs.
"I don't know I just don't want to lose you," he whispers and I lightly kiss him on the nose.
"You won't lose me. Never," I promise him and I meant it. With every beat of my heart, I meant it. With every blink of my eyes, I meant it. With every smile, I meant it.
