I Can't Make You Love Me

Chapter IX - 3rd Degree

"Babe!" Looking out of my window, I cheerfully shouted our endearment. He then waves at me, and I saw him holding some pieces of balloons. I grabbed the box that he gave me then ran outside the house. 

"Eros!" I called his name as soon as I stepped out. He was there. Staring at me. Smiling. It was a breath taking view. 

"Babe." He then grabbed my hand. Our eyes glued to each other. I saw happiness and love at his eyes. I felt joy running through my veins. 

"Happy Anniversary!" He said before kissing the tip of my nose. 

"I thought you forgot all about it." I said breathlessly. His forehead then creased. 

"How could I ever forget all about it?" Then he grabbed me by the waist. "You look beautiful as ever." I flush. 

Sabay naming pinalipad ang mga lobong dala niya. 

Ang saya ko.

"Caths. Hey. Caths!" I was brought back to reality when the girls called out my name. 

That is when I realized that I was staring at a bunch of balloons held by a guy and is about to give it to his girlfriend. I smiled bitterly. Reminiscing sucks. Bigtime.  

"Idling has been my habit for a few days." I told them. "I'm fine, okay?" I said convincingly. 

"Caths. Please. Talk to us. We're here to listen." Dem told me. 

"Right. What are friends for, diba?" Hes came to me and grabbed both my hands. 

"Don't worry, we're not a two faced bitch neither a great pretender." Nyx said as she placed her hand in my shoulder. 

They dragged me to the bench. "Now. Talk." Hes told me. 

"Look. I don't want to talk about it, okay? It's just.. that... ugh!" I ran my hands through my hair because of exasperation. 

"Well, could you please atleast tell us what you saw?" Dem said with all frustration. "Please?" 

I sighed before starting. "Okay." I paused. " I was looking for Eros that day when someone texted me, an unregistered number, saying that if I wanted to know the truth, I should then go to the rooftop." I observed their reactions, and they're very attentive. "Being little Miss Curiosity, I followed it anyway. And yeah. The truth was laid with my naked eyes." I smiled bitterly. 

"So... what did you saw?" Nyx asked with hesitation. 

"I..I saw.. them.. and they were.. kissing." I looked up, trying to fight my tears. I can't show anyone my weakness. I just can't.

"My ghaaad! Ang kapal talaga ng mukha nung hipon na yun! Jusko!" Hes said while trying to calm herself. 

"Then why didn't you just shoot them?" Dem asked frustratingly. 

I was shocked to what she said. "No. I c-can't." My voice was shaking. 

Then silenced embraced us. 

I just can't shoot them. Oo, galit ako, pero I won't use that reason just to hurt them. Eros is my boyfriend for two damn years, and Selene was one of my best buds since kindergarten. I was with her during nap time, coloring time, and during a nursery song. I can't be impulsive towards this kinds of things.
