I woke up, groaning as I did. I hate waking up, especially when I have to do something when I do. I tossed the thick quilt off my body, hissing quietly when the chilled air touched my bare legs. I stood, my sock clad feet making no noise as I padded through my apartment.
My kitchen wasn't as bad as everywhere else, the large window gave a lovely view of the city. I grabbed the coffee pot, dumping out the remnants of yesterday, and rinsed it out. As I started to make another pot, I heard my phone ring.
"Hello?" I asked, starting the coffee maker. "Clarity? Hey it's Arabella, I was wondering if after your shift you might wanna go shopping tomorrow?" The voice blared through my phones speaker.
"What time? I might have to be somewhere?" I asked again.
"Around five o'lock, maybe?" She asked
"Yeah, that sounds great, I have exams around one so I'll be in need of fun." I replied, taking a coffee cup from my cupboard.
"Great, oh and Clarity?"
"Yes, Arabella."
"Happy two years of being single."
"Thanks Ara, two lonely years today." I said, chuckling.
It was true, two years ago today my ex broke it off with me.
"Anytime, Clarity, anytime" She said, before hanging up.
I pulled my phone away from my ear, opening up the Pandora radio app and tapping the 'Classical' radio. The sound of Beethoven's piano melody 'Moonlight' filled my ears, I hummed along as I poured my coffee. I walked over to the refrigerator and pulled out my peppermint mocha creamer and whipped cream, pouring the creamer in and stirring before topping it with a dollop of whipped cream. I put away the products and opened the freezer, puling out the raspberry toaster strudels.
After my morning routine, I went back to my room, taking my brush off of my dresser and pulling it through my knotted light blonde hair.
I got dressed in my classic sweater and skinny jean look. The blue sweater had a large Superman 'S' on it and my jeans were a light wash with holes and somehow my look was decent. I grabbed my black Vans and slipped them on over the stupid little no show socks I had on. I grabbed my earbuds and my bag, a lovely backpack from Claire's that had owls all over it, along with my keys and phone.
I brushed my hair, which I straightened last night after I showered, up into a messy bun and smeared on makeup, before brushing my teeth and turning off all the lights in my apartment and leaving, locking the door as I went.
I quietly skipped down the stairs and out of the large building, which I am, regrettably, living on the seventh floor of. I jammed the earbuds into my ears as the music for 'Nightmare Before Christmas' started to play from my phone.
I sighed as the hot summer air hit my skin, a totally different feeling then the air conditioning of the building. I pushed up my sleeves and smiled when the music from 'Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire' came on. I walked along, just smiling a slight bit, alone in the city. It is only about seven in the morning.
An elderly woman smiled at me and waved, I waved back. I may not be a people person but I am polite when I want to be. I entered the Starbucks, pulling on my apron, pulling out my earbuds and putting my phone on silent as I went behind the counter.
A group of teenagers walked in, about my age, and went up to the counter.
"Hello, welcome to Starbucks, what would you like to order today?" I said, smiling a fake smile.
Some girl, who had a definite fake tan and bleached hair started talking first "I want the venti double chocolatey chip Frappucino, extra whip" She said, snappily
"Whats your name?" I asked, ppulling out a cup and a sharpie.
"Alice Beiber"
"Alice" I mumbled as I wrote it on the cup
":Beiber. Alice Beiber. You have to write Beiber on it." She snapped
I jumped and wrote 'Beiber' on it. After she paid the next person came up.
"And what would you like?" I asked the boy who went after her, who was very tall and very cute.
"Well aside from your number, I want just a tall Iced Tea" He said, with an Austraillian accent.
I felt my cheeks turn red and asked "Name?"
"Ashton." He said, "And I was being serious. . .about your number, be nice to talk to a pretty girl like you more often. Maybe even take you out." He said, flashing a dazzling white smile and showing of a pair of dimples. I smiled at him and heard the intro to the song 'Clarity' by Zedd start.
"Turn it off Peyton!" I groaned, turning to look at my coworker, and my best friend.
"But it's your song!!" He said back, laughing as he poured the fake blonde's drink. "Alice Beiber!" He called out, sliding the cup on the counter.
"I don't care, turn it off or change the song. It's annoying" I said as I turned back to 'Ashton' "Sorry about that, so your 'Ashton'?" I asked and raised an eyebrow.
He nodded, chuckling "Oh your fine, and yes, its Ashton."
I wrote Ashton you should text me then I wrote my number and signed it Clarity xx I handed the cup to Peyton for him to make the drink. After the rest of the group ordered and left I turned to Peyton and grinned.
"Ooh girl what did you just do?" He asked, grinning back at me.
"I may or may not have given someone attractive and Austraillian my number." I said, smiling widely.
My phone lit up and we both gave eachother a look, before I hurridly grabbed it and unlocked it.
Hey its Ashton, thanks for the tea and your number
I smiled and replied Your welcome Ashton I hope you enjoy your drink I sent it and smiled. Wow, he was cute.
The tune of "Thanks for the Memories" by Fall Out Boy came on. "Is this song acceptable?" Peyton asked.
I nodded "One night and one more time. Thanks for the memories, even though they weren't so great. He tastes like you only sweeter. One night, yeah, and one more time thanks for the memories, thanks for the memories. See, he tastes like you only sweeter" I sang, loudly.
He skipped the song and 'Royals' came on.
"Peyton, this song is most definatly acceptable!" I said, laughing as he started to sing He has an absolutely amazing, deep, singing voice. I laughed as he started dancing around.
The group of teenagers who came in earlier and were sitting in a seculded corner of the cafe, were staring at him. He stopped and smiled widely at them, "Do you have a staring problem?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
I punched his arm, "Peyton! Be nice!!" He shrugged and turned off the radio, "They clearly don't know how to not stare."
I tugged my apron over my head, my shift is finnally over, it's now one thirty, me and Ashton texted all day. He is a bit flirty but he's really funny. . . and attractive. Oh, who am I kidding, he's hot.
