"OH GODS! SHUT UP! ITS JUST THE LASAGNA!" I yelled at the fire alarm.
Horatio was having a laughing fit as he watched my struggle to cool down the now burnt lasagne. The fire alarm in my apartment was going off. It was complete chaos.
I gave up on the food and fixed my attention on the fire alarm. The alarm was too high on the wall for me to reach. I slumped my shoulders.
"Would you like help?" Horatio asked? I nodded my head, not looking at him.
He chuckled as he turned the alarm off.
We stood quite a bit, with the smell of burnt lasagna in the air. I finally looked up at the red headed liutenit.
"How does take out sound?"
-------------------"I still truly believe it was your fault that I burnt the lasagna," I said, taking a large bite out of my pizza.
Horatio rolled his eyes at me playfully. "How is it my fault, again?"
"You were talking to me and distracting me," I giggled. He laughed at me.
"Well then, I take full responsibility for the burnt lasagna," Horatio joked.
I laughed. The rest of the night went by quickly. Horatio and I joked about the lasagna and talked about random things.
Just as we were finishing up our pizza, Horatio got a call.
"Horatio Cain. How can I help you?"
I waited and tried to hear what the person on the other end of the phone call was saying.
Soon, Horatio hung up, and looked a little disappointed.
"Whats up?" I asked.
"That was work. I have to leave," He answered.
I nodded. "C'mon. I'll take you home," Horatio smiled.
--------------
"Thanks for trying to make me dinner," Horatio said.I laughed, "yeah, its a shame you couldn't taste my wonderful lasagna," I teased. I hadn't realized we had leaned so close too each other until it was too late.
Before I could think, his lips were on mine. He was gental and sweet. I quickly pulled away. We stayed quite for a moment, each of us thinking over what had just happened.
"Im sorry," Horatio whispered.
I looked away. I liked Horatio. He was the nicest man I've met, but I was afraid. I didn't want this to turn out like my last relationship.
"Its-its fine. I've got to go," without looking at him I got out of his car and quickly made it to my apartment.
I sighed a breath of relief. I slid down my door, thinking about what I did. I kissed him.
"Stupid," I muttered. My apartment was pith black, so it was a startling surprise when I heard another voice.
"Assassin arn't supposed to feel sentiment," a male voice said. I quickly jumped up and flipped on the lights, placing myself in a fighting position.
Steve stood smiling at me, "I hadn't meant to startle you," he said. I grimaced. He must've saw me and Horatio.
"Where's Ruby?" I asked.
"Staying out of our business. Im here to deliver some news," steve said.
I got a sudden sick feeling. I began to notice the blood on Steve's assassin suit.
"What news," I said flatly. I would not give him the satisfaction of hearing the fear in my voice.
He smiled maniacally, "Me and you have unfinished business," he said.
