Chapter 8 - I Need A Hero

After Zayn and Louie had their chat, they decided to give Selena a phone call to cheer her up and see what was going on with her life. Little did they know was that what seemed so 'happy' wasn't so bright as was first interpreted. 

Back in the apartment, after the that passionate yet toxic kiss, Justin left for the studio with the promise that things will become better between him and Selena. As she wondered around the empty apartment, Selena placed a palm to her lips. She couldn't get that feeling off her lips. That strange tingle. That same, toxic, addicting little tingle which was born from the moment Justin placed his lips with hers together. "He's never kissed me like that in along time...." Selena whispered to herself. When it came to kisses like that, it has been a while. Sadly, the only passion found other than what was in those kisses was left up in fights and arguments, most of them unwanted to miss Gomez. She was torn, she was puzzled, but for the most part, she was lost....so she wandered, by herself, in circles in their apartment. And then the phone rang and her world shook all over again.

Selena gasps hearing the phone ring and wonders...who could be calling at this hour? Nervously clicking her fingers together, she walked over to the phone and picked it up to answer the call. "H-Hello?" she answers nervously to herself. Luckily for her, a familiar voice spoke over the line. "Hey! What's happenin'?" asked Zayn while in the background Louie gave him a thumbs-up for using his infamous One Direction catchphrase to talk to her and cheering to Zayn "Yeah, man!". Zayn shushes him so he could hear himself and Selena talk. "How are you?" asks Zayn. A smile lights up on Selena's face, proud that at least somebody she knows has called to check up on her and see what's going on in her sad life. "I-I'm good. Great! I'm just surprised that you guys called", replies a smiling Selena. "Yeah, well we were thinking about  how we haven't talked in a long time and we figured that what better way to catch up than hanging out with me and Louie over coffee?", says Zayn on the line. "Um, sure! It's been a while since I've had coffee with friends.", says Selena cheerfully. "Great! So we'll pick you up at 12:00, 12:30?" asks Zayn, who was being bothered by Louie's constant silent cheering at him in the background. "12:30 sounds great! I'll be there." says Selena. "Great!" says Zayn happily. "Great." Selena says. "Great" Zayn says. Both say "bye" to each other over the phone then the call is over. 

As Zayn lowers the call after calling her, Louie jumps for joy and cheers congratulating him on calling his friend Selena to come hang out with them for coffee as well as congratulating him for making a phone call to a girl. "Zaddy Zayn! Zaddy Zayn! What's happin? Man, you killed it, man!", cheers Louie. "Shut up, man" giggles Zayn. He blushes at the cheering and smiles to himself as he contemplates catching up with Selena. Meanwhile, Selena holds the phone by to her chest and whispers to herself. "Thank you God....for giving me someone to talk to." She whispers to herself and sheds a little tear, remembering her abusive relationship with Justin, the passion, fighting, the madness, the anger, but most of all: the toxicity and the addiction. Selena needed to get herself out of her sad, dark situation to think for herself so she grabbed her phone, her purse, changed out of her pajamas and into a cool casual outfit complete with scarf and sweater and walked out the front steps bravely on her own. She was free....for now.

After a brisk walk through the city, Selena meets up with Zayn and Louie at their favorite Starbucks where they grabs coffees and a snack to go with their coffees (blueberry muffins for Selena, Zayn and Louie). After they sat down drinking their coffees and eating their blueberry muffins, they caught up with one another on what's happened down the last three years. Zayn was last in One Direction, Louie had met Zayn and formed a lasting friendship with him and Selena was with Justin, mostly dealing suffering in silence by herself whilst tormented by the emotional and physical abuse inflicted on her by her on-off boyfriend and promoting her new album Stars Dance, her first solo ever. Not to mention some health issues due to complications from Lupus. All of which eventually lead to her seeking treatment at Timberline Knolls with the help of long-time friend Demi Lovato.

As they all sat together talking, the subject came onto relationships and Selena eyes her coffee with a forlorn look on her face. Seeing this, Zayn stops and asks Selena what he's been wanting to ask her. "Hey, is everything okay?" asks Zayn looking at her awaiting her answer. Selena hesitated but after seeing the curious sympathetic looks on their faces, she spoke up. "Well, to be honest.....I need help."

"Tell me..." says Zayn placing his hands upon her hands on the table gently.

And so the truth comes out.....
