Sheena woke with a bad hangover. She walked to the kitchen grogily, where she found Ruby making toast. Coffee smell was heard from the coffee mashine. Ruby handled Sheena a glass of tomato juice. Sheena wrinkled her nose. "What is this?" "Tomato juice. Drink up, it will help with the hangover." Sheena sat herself on the stool, and accepted the glass before downing the contents. "Why did you drink that much then? You know it was your first time." "You should have told me i would have this much head ache",she wailed. "Whatever, you are a grownup you should have known better. And by the way, better hurry up. We might be late for class if we dont hurry. So go have a bath." Sheena pouted. "Class? I just feel like sleeping all day!!" Ruby laughed. "Whether you want it or not, we still have class. And i dont want to miss it."

Forty minutes later, they were done and headed towards the college. They both took the same course, interior design. They entered class with minutes to spare. Just as the lecturer was entering the lecture hall someone plopped themselves on Ruby's right seat. Turning, she found it was Max. She narrowed her eyes at him. "What are you doing here?" Though she was drunk, she clearly remembered what he tried to do. "I'm sorry Ruby. I guess it was the booze. I didn't know what i was thinking." Ruby stepped his foot so hard that he nearly yelped loudly in pain and suprise. "Fuck off, Max. Keep your stupid excuse to yourself. And stay away from me." Ruby turned away from him and become concentrated with her subject.

They were on the cafe having their customary breakfast. Sheena had an energy drink and some salad and Ruby had a coke and a sandwich. Ruby eyed Sheena's dry lettuce leaves with distaste. "Until when are you going to keep dieting Sheena? You haven't lost an inch." "I know",Sheena moaned. "How do you eat alot, drink alot and still maintain that fit body, Ruby? And you only jog twice a week. That's not fair!!" Ruby smirked. "I guess its just the genes then." She earned a glare from Sheena. It was well known that most of Sheena's family was fat. Just then a seat was drawn back on their table. "Can i sit here?" It was Max. Ruby said "No!!" at the same time that Sheena said "yes." Poor Sheena had a crush on Max, which surely wasn't aknowledged and reciprocated. Max chose to sit. "Look Ruby, i'm sorry for what happened. It wasn't my intention for it to happen that way." Sheena looked at both of them, comfused. Ruby bored her hardened eyes towards Max. "You didnt mean it? Ooh really? You know what, just get awayfrom me. I dont want to see your face." She stood up and left.
Ruby left for two reasons, one; she was positively mad at Max and two she didn't want to hurt her friend. Sheena would be heart-broken if she realised that the love of her life tried to kiss her best friend. She walked to the park. She sat at her favourite spot. But raising her eyes, she got the site she didnt and would never want to encounter. She stood up, and was turning to leave, tears falling on her cheeks, when she came face to face with Sheena. She had a look like that of pity. Unknowingly to Ruby, after she had stormed off from the cafeteria Sheena had followed her. Only to witness her beloved but ex boyfriend Derrick, kissing, no snogging or much more positively, eating off the face of the leading cheer girl.

Ruby knew the only retreat she would have was her sister's apartment. She quickly boardered a taxi there, and knowing where she kept her key, let herself inside. She ran to her sister's room and drapped herself on bed. And cried. And cried. Alot.
Strong as she was, she was only human too. And could not let people see her weakness. Which was Derrick. He was her first boyfriend, since junior high. And Ruby had loved and adored him. He was a class higher than her, but still continued contact when he graduated. He applied to the local university. Ruby eagerly applied there too, but became disappointed with the person whom she had followed there. He cheated on her numerous times, finally hitting on Ruby's best friend. When Ruby called time out, he tried with all his means to show her what she missed, dirty her name and constantly, hurt her. Ruby loved him still. And he knew it perfectly well.

It was in the evening when someone shook her awake. She had cried herself to sleep. She looked at the person annoyed, to find her sister. Concern was etched on Jenny's face. "What happened Ruby? I came as soon as i got your message." Jenny was a workaholic. In every sense of the word. So seeing her here at this time for her touched her deeply. "It was Derrick." Jenny became enraged. "Him again? What did he do this time?" Ruby sobbed silently on her sister's lap, who was strocking her hair. She did not need to say anything. Jenny understood everything. "Uuumm....i know what would cheer you up. Should i cook your favourite food?" Ruby nodded. Jenny stood and walked to the kitchen. Leaving Ruby alone, who had other ideas to cheer her up, rather than eating her favourite food.
