Amelia's POV

I couldn't believe my ears. Daniel Cayne - The Daniel Cayne - wanted to kiss her. With his eyes trained on her every move, I couldn't stop the blush from coating my cheeks. All the chaos from outside seemed to disappear. All her thoughts were on him. Him and his hypnotizing blue eyes.

As he inched closer, my heartbeat echoed in my ear. It was so loud I was surprised he couldn't hear it. His eyes never left mine as he drew closer to me. With his hands firmly on my waist, electricity pulsed through my entire being. My blush deepened when I felt his breath on the edge of my upper lip - when I thought about his lips covering mine. His forehead met mine and I felt my eyes fluttering close.

My palms were sweating, I noticed, as I struggled to rub them together with what little space I had to do so. Then I placed them on his forearms, finding it particularly harder to breathe. My throat called desperately for water. My nerves were going haywire. If his hands weren't on my waist, I might've fallen to my knees.

With his lips inches away from mine, his voice caught my ears.

"I need an answer, baby doll," he softly said. I detected a hint of want in his voice, I felt it in the way he was holding on to me.  I knew I had to give him an answer, after all, he promised he wouldn't do anything until I said it was okay. He was taking things slow for my benefit. The problem was, I didn't know what to feel; I wanted him but at the same time I knew I shouldn't. We were from two different worlds, I repeated in my head, we would never work.

But having him here, having me stand in his arms, made me want to forget all the logic. It made me want to say yes.

I heard him sigh before his head dipped into the crook of my neck. Gently, his lips left kisses along the base of my neck. I gasped when I felt him bite down on my skin, involuntarily pulling myself closer to him. I needed him close, I needed him to kiss me, but the words were lost in the air. His lips attacking my neck only made my thought process unproductive. Softly, tenderly, teasingly, his lips didn't stop.

I had to answer him. I wanted this, I wanted him to kiss me.

Opening my mouth, my answer on the tip of my tongue, I was ready. Only the world wasn't. A loud pitched scream pierced through the ear, making us jump apart in surprise. I didn't think. I let go of him and opened the closet door watching as everyone rushed downstairs.

"Amelia, wait!" Dane's voice sounded behind me. My eyes searched for my cousin, but I couldn't find her so I followed the crowd and ran downstairs. They headed straight to the spacious kitchen, where everyone mumbled and muttered to themselves about who screamed and why.
I stood at the arch of the kitchen, gasping when I felt a pair of hands capture my waist. Dane.

"What were you thinking, baby doll?" he whispered in a soft voice, "you didn't even know what was happening."

I blushed, "I just... heard it and thought it was my cousin. Do you see her anywhere?"
