As a Woman

As a woman, I've learned...

To dress up to standard.

Whose standards?

Men's standards.

As a woman, I've learned...

If I don't pull up my skirt,

And pull down my top,

Men won't give a second look.

As a woman, I've learned...

If I'm not DD,

Or my butt is small,

I don't matter.

As a woman, I've learned...

I can't dress for comfort.

I'm an object.

No longer a person.

As a woman, I've learned...

To blow off men's mistakes.

Say "Boys will be boys."

Never say "No."

As a woman, I've learned...

"No" means "Yes."

And "Yes" is begging.

I was asking for it.

As a woman, I've learned...

If I'm not petite,

I'm fat.

A cow.

As a woman, I've learned...

To accept my body.

I'm beautiful.

I don't need man in my life.

As a woman, I've learned...

Everything I do,

Is sexualized.

I'm an object...
