I was unbelievably cold as I began to regain consciousness. There was whimpering, grunting, and light sobbing. I opened my eyes to the dim light I was on a dirty cement floor. Looking around I noticed I was surrounded by bars. I was in a fucking cage, and I wasn't the only one, each cage held a different girl. All were dirty, hair messy, I went to stand up but was yanked back down I coughed choking in air. I felt my neck a metal collar was around it linked to the ground. This has to be against my rights. I looked to the small brunette in the cage right next to mine."What is this?" The small girl looked up she had a bruise under her left eye. "This is hell," her voice was fragile like her small skeleton. It annoyed me that she didn't give me a straight answer, no help.
"Where am I?" A man dressed in all black made his way towards my cage tapping his baton on the bars of the other cages causing the girls in them to look up as he walked by finally stopping in front of me. What is he some kind of guard? I couldn't see his eyes he was wearing shades, which if you ask me is stupid because there was obviously no sun down here. His head was pretty much shaven and he had a goatee.
"It will be quite in my cell block. You are awaiting trial," His voice was rough and rugged like a biker or something.
"Trial, does that mean I have a chance to go back home?" The guard opened my cell then he squatted so we were face to face.
"In my cell block you do not talk at all, even if you're asked a question you keep that pretty little mouth of yours shut. You don't get to go home you're a human the only reason you are going to trial is because you wouldn't pick a punishment." I rolled my eyes at him. Then a ringing filled my ears as I felt his hand come in contact with my face, hard.
"You will respect me. Or I will continue to beat you. Awe, you are adorable when you bleed." With this a smug smile fell on his lips. I looked at him spitting blood at his face getting it on his stupid shades. He hissed standing up he left the cell. It seemed like hours had passed but I still felt the sting on my face as if it was fresh. Stupid smug bastard, follow rules my ass, all I did was roll my eyes. Vampires are so strict, nit picky little fuckers. Well I have news for you Anarchy, (yes Anarchy because he looks like a biker and didn't say his name nor would I use it). I'm getting out of here and going home, human or not, Soon the smell of what had to be food wafted to my nose. A cart was brought in and some chef girl handed out trays. When she finally reached my cage to slide the food in I heard the guard speak.
"No food for crimson she's been misbehaving. " The chef as if used to this simply headed towards the next cell. Crimson? Oh yeah I get it because of the blood spitting, better then Adeline though. This is outrageous you are going to hit me then not feed me. Whatever, I've gone multiple days without eating besides I'm sure the food is mush anyway.
I went to sleep caught up in my dreams of what life was like before they took me away. I had gotten a couple tattoos just to be rebellious, beaten people, stole, I had a fine childhood I just always had a passion to piss vampires off. I never knew where it came from and maybe I never will. But now I have more adequate reasons to hate them. Because I was on a collar in a cage, with an injured face, starving. Just like how my dreams usually go I went from being in my comfy plush bed to on the run in the dark twisting and turning through alleys. I was running fast the sirens in the distant and the diamond necklace in my possession. Yes I stole some jewelry but in my defense it was hilarious, and I might've secretly liked it. It was only going to be sold to some snobby vampire girl only vampires were allowed to have nice things. I kept running and running and finally I began to choke and stumble. My eyes fluttered open and I realized my collar was yanking me towards the opening of the cage.
"Common Crimson get up." I glared at Anarchy as I got up on to my feet. It felt weird to actually stand up. I didn't ask where we were going it wasn't worth another mark. We made our way into a room with 3 vampires sitting behind a tall wooden table the council, though I've never seen them in person it was obvious.
"Thank you Jax" One of the council members said and then with a movement of their hand the guard left. Ha, his name was Jax, I was so spot on with Anarchy.
"Adeline Rayne Treshie, you have been found guilty on all accounts, which I will not list because it will take too long. We are here to discuss your punishment."
The council member that was speaking was an older man, handsome in a scary kind of way. All of them were older men, each with a small tattoo on their wrist of the Vampiric lord symbol it was the highest honor and rank in the vampire world. Second compared to the actual lord himself who never seemed to be around.
The council was talking amongst them selves I heard snip bits. She's too young to be a birth mother, I heard she's still a virgin, and her adoptive mother says she's not good at cooking. How about a factory worker? She's too frail for that kind of work. Her blood type is a high desired one, O-, but she might also be to frail for that. Fine we put her in holding chamber and let her fate be decided by buyers. I rolled my eyes; this was ridiculous no way this was going to slide. Finally they sat up straight as they came to a joint decision.
"For the treason you have committed against all Vampires and Us The Council and since there are many crimes on here we have no other choice but to give you life in the vampire work system. In this sentence you have up to 3 months in a holding chamber where you will be bought for Cleaning or to be a vampire's pet. If you are not picked up in the 3 months we will retrial and appoint an according punishment. You are dismissed Adeline."
With that Jax reappeared taking me by the collar he guided me out and down a bunch of different corridors until we entered a bright room. There were big shop windows, which meant I was in natural lighting and it felt wonderful. There were cages up here but they had dog beds the girls in the cages looked rough but had pretty collars. I can't believe I said they were pretty, but they reminded me of chokers. Jax took me to an empty cage tossing me in.
"Tomorrow Crimson is a big day, how lucky you are to be able to go to a showing so soon." I rolled my eyes and leaned against the cement wall. I don't know what a stupid fucking show was but if it meant I would be out of this cage sooner, I couldn't wait. Eventually I went over to the dog bed laying my head down I fell asleep.
I awoke to find bread and water in my cage. How thoughtful of Anarchy to bless me with bread. I rolled my eyes taking the bread I crushed it getting crumbs everywhere. Anarchy rose from the desk with a cash register at the back of the room. He came over to me rolling his eyes.
"The only one you're hurting is yourself Crimson." I made eye contact with him pouring the water on to the crumbs.
"I don't know what your referring to." I knew this was going to provoke him he opened the cage and as soon as he was in range I hit him with the glass cup. It shattered into a million pieces. I then tried to run past him but his hand wrapped around my ankle I fell to the ground feeling the glass dig into my skin. I cried out but he picked me up by my throat and drug me to a different cage it was much smaller and had chains. He threw me in making me hit my head against the cement. He tightened my collar before hooking me to the chain. I was huffing as it was but now every breath was a fight. He locked the cell walking away I yelled after him.
"Pussy." It was hoarse and quite so I doubt he heard me. It was funny how bloody and beaten I could be but still act like I had power. I looked down at my legs debating whether to remove the glass or not. Probably not, hours later girls were being taken out of there cages one by one being led off into a corridor where they disappeared it must be getting close to the showing.
