In the cafeteria the next day, everyone expect for Brittani were staring down Syn. It was like she was a target now, and nobody wanted to deal with her and her craziness. Syn sat down next to Brittani and the few friends that stayed with her.
"Where did you learn how to do that?" One of them asked Syn.
"Learn how to do what? I was just defending myself from a bigger man" Syn answered not even making eye contact with her friend.
"So you thought of that? Right off the top of your head?" The other asked, Syn felt like they were all attacking her and a wall was closing in on her.
"Why the hell is it so important for you to know?" Syn roared to her friends.
"Because we can use those to pass the test, duh" one of the high end boys said as they walked by. Clearly they had been ease dropping on the conversation before. "Plus that was just a sad move anyway. All you wanted was attention clearly. I mean look at you" the boys just chuckled at Syn making her blood boil with anger and hatred. She was about to stand up and yell at them until Four interrupted.
"At least she has guts to fight for what she wants instead of bashing out at others for what she doesn't have. Go sit down and don't bother my breakfast again" he demanded popping the boy's egotistic heads down to normal sizes.
"You didn't have to do that for me" Syn admitted as she sat back in her chair.
"Who said I did?" Four replied looking over at her with his fork in his hand ready for his next bite of food.
"Aw someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Sorry for poking you Mr Grumpy" Syn pouted her lip and turned away from the man. Anyone who has the guts to say something like that to a leader will most definitely have a target on their back in the future.

After breakfast was done, all the initiates were back to training in the gym. Today it was Brittani's turn to fight, but thankfully she got another girl to fight. Syn was worried about her friend, but she knows she has been progressing really well since she joined Dauntless. Syn believes Brittani is the one that has grown the most as a person while she has been here, and she has noticed a some tension between her Eric. Almost like a sexual attraction to each other, but Syn wasn't for sure and she didn't want to stick her nose somewhere it doesn't belong.

Brittani and the girl did demolish each other completely, but both of them put up one hell of a good fight. But unfortunately the girl started getting the best of Brittani. She tackled her to the ground and started throwing punches at her. She was becoming a little more rough, and Syn saw why when the girl copied the move she did on Aiden.

"STOP." Eric shouted, "We are not repeating what happened on day one. Get off, you two are done for the day" Eric seemed protective over Brittani, and Syn noticed it as well, but she also saw the evil look he gave Syn when he walked by her. Brittani stumbled off the mat and Syn quickly ran over to her and helped her to her feet.
"You alright there?" Syn asked, letting her friend gain her balance.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little dizzy" Brittani said, holding her cheek that was glowing red.
"I can help you" suddenly, Eric showed up next to Brittani and Syn without warning.
"Something tells me you're going to get a little juicy" Syn blurts out as she opens her mouth and licks the top of her lips.
"Syn!" Brittani gushes with her face turning as red as a tomato. Eric gives Syn a look so she just holds up her hands and backs away.

Now since everyone was busy training, even including Syn after she left, Eric and Brittani had become alone together for the first time since they met. Brittani was already starting to develop feeling for the man, but there was no way she could even mention it to anyone, considering most people dislike him.
"I'm not as strong as the others... How am I going to make it in the next round?" Brittani whispers as she drops her head. He didn't admit it to himself, but Eric had a soft spot for Brittani and he didn't want to see her go.

"I can give you some extra training time, and you can build yourself up. Maybe I can give you some tips too. If you want to make it you need to toughen up, sweetheart" Eric didn't want to show his true meaning of what he was doing, so he had to throw in a snide remark to her. Brittani nods her head with a glowing smile. She was quite excited to possibly have some alone time with her crush, but she didn't know if something she wanted to happen would actually become a reality.

In the meantime, Syn was using the punching bag over in the corner by herself. She threw hard enough punches to make the bag stumble backwards, something not lost initiates can do. Four was already beginning to question her. He never saw her in Dauntless before, and she definitely couldn't have those skills coming from any other faction. So where did she get her strength?

"Where are you from?" Four walks up to Syn and the punching bag and he catches it just as it begins to lean.
"Why do you want to know?" Syn stopped her tussle with the punching bag and looked at the man.
"Because even if you were from Dauntless, nobody has a fighting style like you do" Four leaned against the bag, almost falling over but catching his balance to remain cool.
"Aw, someone wants to get to know his trainee" Syn twirled her hips and gave a slight flirty grin, but Four just shook his head. He pushed off the bag and towered over Syn, almost in an intimidating way.
"Secrets don't last long here. And neither do cockiness" Four taunted, only inches from her face. Syn almost felt something unfamiliar for a second. Scared? Angry? No, she felt attraction.
