Chapter 7

I wasn't the same anymore. I knew something about me had changed now. I was starting to get ready for the ball. I had sat down at my vanity and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I didn't like what I saw. I was some woman, just some rich woman who was better than everyone. My mother was helping me get ready she had taken some diamond earrings out of a chest and brought them to me. I put them on but I was upset inside. She must've noticed something because she asked what was wrong, but I told her I was fine. She just kept pressuring me into telling her what was wrong. I snapped just then. I yelled "Why can't you leave me alone? Can't you see I don't want to be this or represent this family!" I them stormed out of the room and headed outside. I walked to the greenhouse on the property. I could be alone here for now but only for now. I sat picking up a rose and began messing with the leaves. I was smelling the bed of roses when the greenhouse door creaked opened. I turned around to find my fiancé. He remained me about the ball and that we needed to go. I stopped him and told him I needed to talk to him.

"I need to talk to you" I said looking down. He then grew suspicious and asked why.

"What do you mean rosette, hurry it up we must be going soon."

I replied angrily " I don't care about the ball, this...is about us." He questioned me. I couldn't hold it it any longer if must tell him.

The words fell from my mouth saying "I...we can't be with each other anymore...i don't want to be hurt anymore. I...i just can't do this anymore...its killing me inside,being hurt repeatedly." I stopped I couldn't say anymore.

He responded " why, just why. I thought you loved me..."

I stopped him saying I did but he wouldn't listen he was upset.

Before he started to walk out he stopped sand said "before I leave, I wanted to give this to you...but it won't mean anything to you now." He then walked over to me and place a gold heart locket in my hand and left without saying another word. I stood speechless. I was on the verge of a breakdown. I just couldn't take his abuse anymore, it hurt me. I couldn't deal with it anymore I had already been hurt too many times before. I looked at the locket. It was an intricate gold heart with carvings on the front. I opened it up only to find a message Ingraved into it. The message read "Rosette, my only love" I collapsed to the floor and began to cry.

I picked myself up but sat on the floor still. I was broken, I hurt myself once again. I clasped the locket in my hand and just stared. I couldn't grasp life. I felt defeated in this never ending battle of life. I took the locket and put it around my neck and held it. I gathered myself together and started heading toward the manor. It was up to me now to fix the broken pieces that I had just help break. I walked along the stone path leading to the manor in my ball gown and ready to go with the man that I had just rid of.
