The night was long. I had woken up to darkness. The room was dark and only moonlight came through the windows. I thought about what I had heard. It shocked me. How could he say such a thing like that? I laid in my bed trying to go back to sleep. I couldn't focus my mind on anything else except that. I got up from my bed and walked toward the windows. The forest was still calm and the snow still covered it. I stood there for what seemed like forever just watching silently the outside world. I tore myself away from the sight and began to walk back to the bed. I closed my eyes again and tried to fall asleep. I must've had fallen asleep because I was awoken by a loud crash from above. I jumped out of bed and began to leave my room. The hallway was very dark. I stumbled through the hallway until I reached the stairs. The large window on the landing let the moonlight flood in. I walked across the stair case and onto the other side. I went to the door that led to the attic and walked the narrow staircase. The landing area of the attic was made up of three rooms, but only one had light coming form the door. I peered through the keyhole of the room and saw my father sitting at a desk writing something. I was curious why he was up here. I kept watch for several minutes until u saw something that killed me. There was a woman in the room the whole time talking to him in a low voice. After that she then bent over and kissed him. I died right then. How could he be so horrible! I was lost for words, I was speechless. I lost control of myself and flung the door open and stood there shocked. They both looked embarrassed and rather ashamed. My father started to calm me but I yelled saying "Cheater!". I then ran back down stairs and ran into my room. I bolted the door and threw myself onto my bed and buried my face into the pillow and started to cry. I knew this family was horrible. I felt as if I were a nobody. I was the only decent one if you could say, I was different from the rest of them.
My fiancé had come to the manor this morning. He was a handsome man and very intelligent but he was rather mean and hurtful. I hated that side of him but deep down I knew he was a good person and I loved him. We went into the library to be alone and down. the library had dark wood walls as the foyer and had a massive fireplace. I stared into the fire and had become hypnotized. He broke my hypnosis.
"I wanted to ask you to a ball..." he sounded nervous in his words but I listened on."its a ball at the governors mansion and I wanted to bring you"
He then pulled out two elaborately decorated invitations from his coat and handed it to me. I studied them closely. The invitation read "Your presence is requested at the governors exclusive ball" I looked at the date, it was this Friday. I tore myself away from the invitation and looked at him and said yes, he then hugged and kissed me. After that he said he had business to attend to and left the room. I sat in the library just thinking about what had happened last night. I still was speechless about it. My father and I weren't talking anymore and I was ignoring him. I couldn't bear to speak him at all. I got up and left the room and started my way up the stairs. I needed to start preparing for the ball, for it was in three days.
