The snow was heavier. More and more snow fell to the ground that night. I stopped at an old abandon building in the town and stayed the night. It was too dangerous to stay at a local place now,for I was the wanted Portsburg daughter. The house was falling apart both inside and out. The windows had been shattered and among the destruction I found a room on the other side of the house. I made myself comfortable on the floor. The house was dark and cold. Drafts were current in the house. The constant creaking of the old house kept me up all night. When morning came I readied myself and began to leave. I was going to go home. I had to go. I left the house and stayed on the edge of town making sure I wasn't noticed. I covered myself with my cloak and tried to cover my face. My travel was long an tiring due to the heavy snow. I reached the gate of the manor. The wrought iron gate was covered in the snow. I pushed open the gate and began to go toward the house. The house was built a far distance from the gate. I reached the front of the house finally. The fountain was frozen the the manors roof was coated with snow as the surrounding forest. I could see the light from inside through the windows. Smoke was billowing from the many chimneys that adorned the roof. I walked up to the front door and knocked. The giant lion head knockers were cold to the touch. I waited on the porch until one of the slaves answered. The old woman had a look of relief and ran to inform my family. I walked in and shut the door behind me. My mother and father ran to greet me, but my brother stayed back. My mother and father were overjoyed I was back and safe. Later that night we all sat down for dinner. The sun had began to set over the manor. It's vibrant colors projected onto the surroundings creating a serene place. My mother and father were busily asking me about my survival while I was away. I peered past them only to notice my brother stare around the room. He then got up and announced that he was going out with Stella. Oh how I hated her. He then left the room and was followed by the sound of what seemed like the front door closing. Later I went up to my bedroom and began to settle back in. I laid on my bed and just closed my eyes and relaxed for once. I felt like I had no worries or anything. I felt different. I felt happy almost. It was good to be home I thought. I never thought I would actually be happy to be home. The evening sky began to fade and the stars began to rise. I started to get ready for bed. I sat down at my desk and pulled out the diary.

I have returned home. I had experienced things I never want to experience again. I killed a man. I still don't know how I managed to do it. It felt as if a power or something just took control of me. I'm ... still scared of everything...

I stopped there. I couldn't go on anymore. Just the thought of what happened disturbed me. I then got up and crawled into bed and nestled underneath the blankets. I heard something right then, something that shocked me. I had heard what seemed like my father say something horrible. "You're the problem I have! Your a terrible wife! I know that your just some gold digger! I knew it couldn't be real or was it? I tried to just forget and go back to sleep. Maybe it was just my imagination? I knew I would find out soon. I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
